Hands Free Kits

I just bought a hands-free kit for my car so I can use my cell phone when driving...its one of those ones that plugs into the cigarette lighter, and you got the mike that clips on the visor....my question, is there an easy way of running the wire for the mic? Is the dashboard easy to take apart for this? I want this to be as clean as possible, unlike my last hands-free kit, where I had wires hanging all over the place...

Well it can be done but I just dont know how. The guy who had the car before me has a mic and also a power cord for a radar detector coming through there. He had the mic removed but had the same setup your talking about. So it is possible but I cannot really tell you any directions.

You can run the mic wire under the panel covering the steering column and up the A-pillar and under the headliner where it meets the windshield. I had a real car kit for an old cell phone and that was how it was installed.

Bluetooth is a wireless technology, designed mainly for short-distance application, to replace a cable so that two or more units can communicate while moving around. In this particular application, I don't think it's needed, as once microphone is connected it won't move, and it's much smaller than Bluetooth added microphone.

Basically, Bluetooth (one word, not two) is wireless technology for wireless technology.

Gotta love the irony!

Did they ever get anywhere? Former Lucent was big on that 2 years ago.

Last week we saw office calls sent to a pocket pc which was cool, but overkill, at least in 2002. It's amazing that with laptop pc's screens being so big these days people are complaining they're too big and heavy--voila pocket pc! Crazy 8 years ago laptops were awesome.

Guy at work just got the Moto V60c, neat phone. He used to have the Moto Timeport--opted to go portable hands-free as opposed to the actual cradle hard-wired.

Me? I don't need to have the latest/greatest, just have to be aware of it when the headhunter calls.

here is what to do

just take out your center console, clip the cigarette lighter attachment and run the wire to the back of your lighter. That way when ever you start your car the phone will work. Just remember to ground your the wire.
