First time at track with 205/50-15 tires
I went to the track on friday, because the weather looked good, and I wanted to try out my 205/50-15 tires mounted to the stock 15's. I really wanted to get the BFG drag radials, but didn't want to shell out over $100 a piece. I decided just to get some z-rated kuhmos, because they are relatively sticky and pretty cheap. Overall I am pretty impressed. On my old tires my times were all over the place. I was very inconsistent, and had bad 60 ft times. This time I could have been a bracket racer easily. I ran consistent 2.2 60 ft times all night. My times were all in the 15.0-15.1 range, with a large group around my best time of the night at 15.062. My speed went up 2-3 mph on average, because now I am crossing the line in third at 5600 rpm, instead of roughly 5000 rpm before. If I had known someone else there that was lighter than me (260 lbs), then my car would have been in the 14's no problem. My times didn't even fall like they normally do, even after hot lapping 6 times in a row. I feel that with my current mods and a little more practice, I can get into the 14's, because this has been my goal for some time.
There were some interesting people and cars at the track this time. There was one Ford super-duty powerstroke diesel, that had a 6 inch suspension lift, and huge 35 inch super swampers that was running high 15's all night. There was one guy with a honda accord 2.2 that was stock that told me he had never run in the 1/4 mile, but his best 1/8th was a 9.5. He then preceded to run 18's all night.
Another guy told me that he could make me a custom high stall torque converter for my car for $29, or free if I could make him an intake.

I am just waiting on one of those insanely good weather days to go to the track, just like the night I ran my best as well as a few others. Everybody was trapping higher than normal, it would be insane for an auto to trap at 94-95 mph.

Yeah, it was at Steele. It was a little more calm this week than last week. They were actually telling people to quit doing burnouts in the parking lot, and kicked a few out.

They also will give you $1000 if you have one of their bumper stickers on during a perfect run. Perfect meaning matching your dialed in time, and getting a perfect reaction time LOLHope you can make the meet, we might have a few more people this time?? maybe?? lol Oh yeah, I finally got my bumper painted LOL They really surprised me at how well they were able to match it.
Great results
I'm glad to see how smaller tires dropped your ET and increased your trapspeed. The only thing hold your car back from consistant 14 sec runs is the torque convertor. Drop a protorque in there + the 205/50-15 tires would have you leaving at around 3000-3500rpm out the hole. So expect to cut 2.0-2.2 60fts and 14 sec ET's. Its too bad you don't live near houston, TX I only wiegh 160lbs
