Question whats the advantage of changing the springs on the max if getting larger rims?

Should I replace the springs instead of the FTSB adjustement for $75 (or whatever it costs)?

You definitely want to go 18x8 IMHO, I just did. Before I mounted the rims I had 2nd thoughts about harsh ride, too little sidewall, slow acceleration, but once you put them on the car, you'll grin knowing those bad boy 235/40 are bigger than what's found on the front of a Carerra. 18's used to be prohibitively expensive, but now they're like buying a Pentium 4 Dell for $899--you get the idea, you can go cheaper but why? I was just over $1100 with 2nd day shipping included! $1100 is sure cheaper than spending 25 grand on a new car--now that's what I call bang for the buck!

When it comes to new rims how heavy would you guys say is too heavy for 18's? I was looking at some and called the company that sells them and they said they are around 23 lbs. Do you guys think that would slow me down alot or what? I know stock on the 4th gens are like 19.5 pounds so it is only a little over but what are your feelings on this?

cheston's site (maximadriver.com)
"A rim weighing 14-17 pounds each (without tire) is considered very good and is best for racing/handling. 18-25 pounds ea is good, and is fine for sport driving. 25 pounds and above, and the rim is deemed "not-so-good" and performance might suffer. It's basically putting bricks on and telling your car to run. So keep it light. Also to consider is radius size. The bigger the radius, the more rotational energy needed to turn it."

pretty well said dont u think?
