My brake light turned on!?!?

Well I was driving along a few days ago, icey and I started sliding and my stupida$$ hit the brakes, well I recovered but noticed my brake light turned on as if my e-brake were up, but my e-brake wasnt. Now its like I start my car the light is on, and same with driving around and sometimes it turns off. Seems like it might just be me or the cold weather causes the light? And does anyone have any clue what this could be? Oh btw, I think its in my head but lately it seems like I am going a lot slower and less power then I should have. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Mike

check the cable on the BACK brakes. On the caliper themselves where the cable attaches it could be binding, AND dragging your brake.

Also check the fluid level

Sorry I have never worked with brakes, my father checked my calipers and he said those are fine, and how do I go about checking the fluid leverl? Thanks,

Mike

While you're there, I'd suggest you check your other fluids too.

Engine oil (when engine has been cold for a while), ATF (if you have an automagic, engine still running after you've driven it for a little while) and power steering fluid too.

Avoid costly repairs, check the fluid levels regularly.
