Anyone interested in copper head gaskets for a VQ30!

Im looking to get head gaskets made up for the VQ30DE from http://www.headgasket.com/ I was wondering if anyone here might be interested. Also I was think of thicker to lower the compression like .5 if there is anyone with the knowledge of what thickness head gasket would be needed It would help.

Heres the deal if I get 4 people to buy them they are 90/set and they will waive the fees to set it up.

Nice. You might want to hit up Turbo95. I know he at least looked into better headgaskets.

A headgasket made out of metal, is much stronger than an OEM headgasket. When you run high boost, it puts a tremendous about of pressure inside the cylinders. So you have these little explosions inbetween two pieces of metal. These two metal(block/head) want to seperate. So you need something inbetween them to resist that(keep a tight seal)

I know Nissan motorsports made composite headgaskets for my old L series engines but copper would be superior to that.

A thicker head gasket will lower the compression ratio by lifting the head up a tad. This is good for boost applications (NOS, turbo, SC)

A thinner head gasket does the opposite, and that's good for higher naturally-aspirated (NA) performance.

Im looking into a stock thickness headgasket cause I think 9to1 is a good ratio. BTW sprint I was getting the DET ones but the copper would be so much more boost happy. I need 3 buyers so I can get this together.

True I wish it was that simple, not many people here are willing to spend the money to pull there motor apart unless they got a problem with it.

Also I am going to have them made at stock thickness is that what everyone wants?

I just emailed the guy to ask how long it will take to get made up and what he needs to get it done like stock gaskets.

I dont know the guy just said if he could get 4 buyers he could waive the CAD cost of $60 but I assume that once there made he can make them easily since he will have the CAD for it.

You'll be slower off the bottle. And it's a lot of work swapping head gaskets.

You should consider thickness. It would determine what pistons you use/need when rebuilding the engine. Getting a HG that would take down the compression by .5 would be a real nice way to make a Maxima more boost friendly(ie. avoid having to rebuild the bottom end)

It's just that replacing HGs on a transverse V6 is such a major pain as compared to I6, V8s or I4s.

i tried really hard to get people in on this back then with no luck so i never had them made. Depending on the thickness of the gasket, ill prolly take 2 sets. I have specs on the headgasket i was pushing to get done, lemme see if i can dig up that info. or maybe search??? hummmm

Hmmm......... Kids, I tell ya! I'd be affording it too if I wasn't trying to get a house. The way I see it is to get the house first then mod the hell out of my Max. No since in parking a nice ride on the street.
