JWT Consult Compatible?
JWT Consult Compatible?
I read somewhere(not sure where), that the JWT ECU upgrades were Consult compatible. Does that just mean that they keep the stock useability, or does that mean that after they upgrade your computer, that you can then change the maps with a Consult? Also, has anyone priced a Consult? I would like to get one so that I can watch for knock, and get a better idea of what the fuel/ignition maps look like on this car. I've ordered an Super AFC II. I originally didn't want the JWT ECU because I like to do a lot of tuning. I want to be able to tune on the fly. But if it's Consult compatible, that'd be really great! Thanks.

There's no reason why the JWT (or GForce ECU, for that matter) would NOT be compatible. Both places install a daughter board and connect it to the main board via a ribbon cable. That's the extent of the hardware modification. All diagnostic functions remain the same. No service shop would ever even know the ECU was modified unless they opened the case to the ECU.
By the way, I had the Super AFC on my car for 2 years. Set up correctly, you could permanently modify the fuel settings, but the changes resulted in no real power gains on my full bolt-on car. Unless you have or plan on getting a supercharger, it won't do you any good...not any gains to be had.

I just cancelled my order on the AFC till I figure out more on the JWT ECU. You say the diagnostic features should work, but what I really want to know is if it will allow access to the maps...ie change them. I want to lean out the top end some,....or maybe a lot. I plan to also try water injection. That will allow me to run leaner and with more advance. I want the Consult anyways even if I can't change it, but I don't want the JWT if I can't change it. Thanks for any info.

i dont think they sell the Consult to the public. Its basically a more advanced NIssan Only Scan tool. Juss buy a scan tool and you can use them more cars. BTW, you cant adjust fuel maps with the consult or scan tool. You can retard timing tho
I have a 3rd gen so I can do the timing by hand. The main reason I wanted one was to detect knock. Can you do that with the scanners? I've also seen others say there are no scanners for the 3rd gens. If there is something out there that will pick up the knock sensor and is buyable, then I want it! I just want it to flash a light at me or something so that I can tune it out.
I think for leaning it out, I'm just going to route some good strong vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator. Probably just have a button that kicks it in like they have on the drag boats....and I'll use an rpm switch for water injection.
