Phuong (got rice?), everybody, I am gauging interest in the new Axxis Ultimate pads..

Here is some good reading for everyone about these pads compared with Metalmasters:

http://www.axxisbrakes.com/technical.htm

http://www.carbotecheng.com/prod-axxis.htm

http://www.carbotecheng.com/appguide-pads-nissan.htm

http://www.miata.net/products/perform/axxis.html

http://www.ae92gts.com/andrew_laguna_01.html

In addition, here is a dot orgy search which revealed a couple of things:

http://forums.maxima.org/search.php?...der=descending

which revealed a member who has used them here:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....axxis+ultimate

My research has been limited, but they look like a brake pad that I'm willing to take the dive on and order. Should anyone else be interested or have some relevant input of their personal experiences or know of others with experiences, please post in this thread and perhaps Phuong would be kind enough to start stocking them. Otherwise iwannabmw has tried to get interest from carbotech in a group deal, as specified below:

I'd go for them. I liked my porterfields, but not the dusting. These sound like they'll get me the same, or better performance, for about the same price. They sound like a good pad.

I'd go for a set too. I need to change my pads soon, so the sooner the better for me.

If they're better that the Stillen Metal Matrix, I'll go for them too (damn squealing).

It's Ok. I was once a newbie too and thought $tillen Metal Matrix pads were "special made" for the Maximas.......yet another delusion in the "aftermarket support" that is $tillen.

Re: Phuong (got rice?), everybody, I am gauging interest in the new Axxis Ultimate pads..

I started reading up on the intangibles - dust and squeeling, since those will make otherwise good pads too annoying. I'll put a plug back in here for the performance of EBC greens. I had a set on the front and loved the performance, but they do dust more than stock. At least the dust wiped off easily (dry better than wet!). The downside was no rear pads to match the fronts. These look comparable; I just put stock pads back on (the dust factor) but maybe I'd upgrade ...

I didn't hear about the Axxis Ultimates until after I did my brake job, but if I did it again I would probably have chosen them over the Metal Masters. If I still have stock brakes when I do brakes again I'll definitely give them a shot.

The reason I don't list them on my site is because Autospecialty does not import the Ultimate pads to the US from Austrailia. Your choice is either: 1) Metal Master or 2) Metal Master

Sorry Phuong, but I guess my business will have to go to Carbotech.

It is interesting that Autospecialty doesn't/won't import them.....

they are too ruff on the rotors plus dust more and give off more sound that the axxis metal masters, but they are great pads if you don't mind the above.

You are the first one I've come across to state all of these concerns......the only one I was aware of was dusting. I haven't come across negative experiences with the dust or the wear on the rotors.

Is this personal experience or from input from your friends? And what vehicle(s) applications are you referring to?

i have been checking out these pads for a little while now..
i'm talking about all the applications for this pad.
they are serious pads.. the are better than the metal masters pads by far, but they are also prone to more noise and dust. as for the noise issue axxis said they produce more noise than the master but from guys with these pads of their car, they have no noise all.
they have no warm up time needed. the downside is they will wear your rotor out much quick than you would expect. i guess you have to pay a little price for such a good break pad.. hope this helps...

Most really aggressive brake pads will wear the rotors faster than "normal". It's part of the tradeoff you pay for performance at that level, there aren't any free rides. Hawk compounds are really notorious for this, but they'll stop the car for sure.
