2nd car

Hey everyone. I was just curious as to how many Maxima owners out there use their Maxima as their toy car for weekends and have another older, "junker" for everyday use. I know the Maxima is no exotic or anything like that, but I'm thinking about buying an older honda or toyota to use just as reliable CHEAP everyday use. And then I want to keep my Maxima garaged for me to work on whenever I'd like and to drive on weekends. Does anyone else do this? If so what car(s) do you drive?

No, u got it all wrong. dont think of your maxima more than it really is. sure, it may look ok, drive nice, you can hook it up a bit. you cannot seriously mod the car because of lack of parts/not ideal drivetrain/prohibitevely expensive/too complicated electronically and mechanically for 99.8% of us.
drive it as your primary car, and hook it up as you go along (the most radical mods are a supercharger/turbo, nitrous, and a variable intake). If you want a project car, pick something else - older/newer domestics, or another import that is simpler, has at least decent aftermarket support, and that you can wrench on yourself (as opposed to having shops do the work for you) without too many worries/headaches.

That's a good choice, that's what I'm currently doing too. Before we bought our Max, I was using a 2.5L 4 cyl Chevy Celebrity (1988 model), which did pretty good on gas. Then when we bought our Max, we felt the BURN because, not only did we develop a lead foot , the Max have an extra 2 cylinders, & it eats premium gas as well. Considering how much we used one car, it just made sense, to use the Celebrity majority of the time because
a) it was better on gas
b) it wasn't as flashy, so we could park it in area's with high-theft rate without too much worry, if it DID get stolen, it wouldnt be so bad.
c) repairs are cheaper on this.
d} we didn't need to use TWO cars all the time.

We still use the Max quite a bit though, just not as much as our "junker"

However, DO NOT get a Celebrity. Very bad car indeed, too many problems! But once you invest $1000's of dollars, it'll fun problem free........for a while.
