New leather seat covers installed - rear only. (pics).

I only got the back seat done but it took me all day Saturday with help from a friend (thanks Chris!) for part of the day. I'm pleased with the results but I now understand why they charge so much for the install. My hand is still a little cramped and swollen. It was worth it though.

The pics include some close-ups of the hog-rings, the old seats (taken out of the car), and the new seats after installation. You can compare the new leather to the old cloth on the front seats in the interior pics. I think its a vast improvement. You can also see how the two-tone leather seat colors match the stock interior (e.g. brown center console).

I'll be attempting the front seats next weekend.

The group price, with a minimum of 10 buyers, was $675 for two-tone leather for both front seats (including headrests), rear bench, four door panel-inserts and an installation kit. Adding heat to the front seats cost an additional $99 per seat which includes the wiring, switch, etc. So I did a major upgrade to my interior for under $875.

For more info, go to www.leatherseats.com

How much did it cost?

I want to get leather put over my tan cloth, leatherseats.com is the only place I know of that offers a nice price like that. There are some upholstery shops around but I don't want to get ripped if I go there to get this stuff done.

You can't put them over your cloth seats. You'll have to replace cloth with leather.

jim your seats look badass.. it's just leatherseats.com doesnt make the best fitting kits.

i dont know how they afford to sell the kits at the prices they do with the price of a hide of leather being what it is.. i have thought that they may use a composite leather or a faux leather to save on cost, but it is in fact real leather so i dont know how they do it..

my seats/headrests/and door panels were $900 installed done in a shop in atlanta. no one makes a kit so i had to go with a shop and 900 isnt a bad price at all... so i was very content.

No offense intended but, those seats look like seat covers, not replacements. The leather isnt tight at all. Just wondering if its due to install, or if leatherseats.com doesnt make good fitting covers.

I installed my leather seats myself and trust me they look better than original leather seat. If you want pics, email me and see for yourself.

Did you read my original post? They ARE seat covers and they fit as well as and look better than my original cloth.

When I said "cover" i meant a cover you just slide over your old cloth. I just noticed some loose areas on the rear seat and was wondering if it was due to the leather replacements, or loose installation or what. no offence intended.

No offense taken. It just sounded like you were saying 'Hey, those seat covers look like seat covers!'

Yes, these covers actually replace the cloth covers and cannot be placed over them. I'm not sure what has caused those loose areas. This is the first time I've done something like this but I'm not sure how I could have tightened it up any more during installation. You're limited to attaching the covers to the same points that the stock covers were attached so there's no way to adjust them during the install.

Perhaps the covers will 'settle in' over time...

Jim
