snobs man. Nothing like a little innocent carbashing to fluff up your egos.

It's funny though that you posted this thread cause recently my friend with an is300 was jealous of the altima so he had to go test drive it. Ofcourse he came back with negative feedback, but that can be expected.

Apparently he didn't like the torque steer, and when he slammed on the brakes doing 80 the car made a weird wiggle (not what he was expecting). He also thought the car was huge which for some people may or may not be what they want.

What's funny is that nothing they said made any sense!! They know less than the people at ClubSi. I would've given them credit to state some real facts, but they were just stating personal opinions tainted by surreal facts. Altima and the 300m tailights...If they knew any better, they would know that the rear of the Altima was designed that way even before the 300m came out. And don't say anything about the guages because what car maker hasn't stolen the white face guages that Nissan debuted in 1989?

The moderator doesn't even know how to use slang. He was "chilling" instead of "chillin".

That post was funny. They are complianing about Nissan copying their car? Pretty much every Lexus model is a copy of a either a MB or BMW product. At least Nissan is somewhat original in it's designs. I think the Altima has a radically different look than it's competion: the Accord and Camry.

Yeah Seriously! When I see an IS300, it screams BMW 3 series.

that's very true - in my management class we discussed how Lexus's strategy is to take different aspects of already successful automobiles and incorporate them into their design... it's not always cosmetic aspects, but it's their strategy nonetheless...

No ****. Nice cars and all, if you want fluff (IS300 aside). The IS is grossly underpowered IMHO, considering they are tying to make it compete with a 3 series. About all it competes with is the 318i. The GS models are all fluff, no drive and lord knows the LS400's are 110% fluff.

They aren't car enthusiasts, they are people who like fluff. Anyone who is in Clublexus certainly isn't dyno'ing their cars or running quarter miles. They have an SPL meter in their car at 80 MPH to see whose car is the quietest.

best post on that thread:

What's more disturbing then any 'similarity' is that you get yourself upset about it and feel the need to complain about it! Is there a reason you asked the question "what to do about the knock-off GS aka the Altima?" I mean, what can you do? Can you go to Nissan and have them change the design? No. Can you convince people not to purchase one? No. Can you live with and enjoy your vastly superior car without feeling threated by an average priced but decent sedan? Apparently not.

Stop complaining and drive around some. Maybe you'll be able to live with it. If you feel so threatened, maybe you should be looking at buying one for yourself...

If you go back to when Japan began opening to the West, that was always their strategy (my BA was in Japanese History). Their army copied the Germans, their Navy copied the British. Basically, copy the best of whatever is out there. It works. In NLP it's called modelling (we all know that). Read Anthony Robbins ... the shortcut to success is learning from the experience of others.

* "Chilling" ... Welcome to the 'burbs. That's an ice chest of Coronas next to the pool ...

* We should be using SPL meters to compare how LOUD we are at WOT!

One guy said how they (the Lexus guys) should be mad at Toyota...um, Toyota makes their cars. Also, I rode in my friend's dad's LS430, and to tell you the honest to goodness truth, it's like riding in my Maxima, with a few more inches of legroom, softer leather and real wood trim....for only 40,000 more than my car. I can do without those features for an all around nice riding car in my Max without having to break the bank, or weigh 2,000 pounds more. And what's with the use of blatant?? Everyone uses it on that BBS, it's like they weren't educated enough to use any other big words pertinent to their argument.
