Sleeper Maximas

My friends and I were discussing Sleepers at work today and how we thought it was cool to be a sleeper. To take people by suprise when they think they will smoke you. I was just curious who the Sleepers on the board were. The guys/girls with a lot of performance mods but no show mods? Or very few show mods. ANy sleepers out there feel free to answer, or people that know sleepers feel free to recognize them. Im just curious, because I like the idea of a Sleeper car. Anyone know of any good ones on the board?

Is there anyone on here that has like all the bolt ons with a SC or NOS but no exterior mods, or just a few exterior mods?

You should see Turbomax's car! Looks mostly stock except for wheels and an intercooler that is not very obvious. That is 420HP of car right there! I'd like to see the look on Porsche driver faces when they see him pass them ... with ease!

LOL, Thats the kinda car im lookin for!! Doesnt even have to be that extreme 420hp But any car with NOS or SC with little to no exterior mods, well make that the guidelines. Has to atleast have boost with little or no exterior mods. Keep em comin

I wouldn't call my car a sleeper but I would call it subtle. Too subtle. Only people that are really looking hard or know what to look for know its not stock. Maybe putting my exhaust on this weekend will get me a few more races haha.

Sleepers...

Our cars, to the most part, continue to look pretty "sleeperish" until a body kit or rims are added. To most people who don't own a Max or know someone close to them that owns a Max, they will probably notice that my Max with tint, clear corners, and clear tails, looks pretty normal overall. I think it would still look pretty sleeper like if it had a 1.5" drop on it. Lower than 2" and you start to be suspicious. Like Vinh said, I'm sorta goin the sleeper route too cause I don't plan on getting a body kit or rims anytime soon. Not that I don't want them, but they are lower on the priority chain. But yeah. I was just commenting to a couple people today. TurboMax has the best sleeper car. Even with it's drop, rims, exhaust, etc. You would *never* guess that it could give a Porche or even a Viper a run for it's money! Muhahahahhahaha Way to go Matthel!

I know our cars in general are sleepers in a way, im talking about to us. We know our cars are pretty fast already. I guess the way im looking at a "sleeper" for a Maxima is either SC or NOS or Turbo, with minimal exterior mods. By minimal I mean no bodykit, no big spoiler, no rims bigger than 17's (no rims is even more sleeper though)etc.. Im just seeing what kind of Max's we have on the board that meet that criteria.

I'm sleeping. I'm not doing any more exterior mods. I added a factory spoiler for the SE look (i'm a GLE) and my comptech exhaust is visible, but I am rolling on 16" rims and clears. I do have a PR CAI and 70 shot of N2O under the not so popular pebble beige color. Does that qualify?

All you can see on my car are the 300zx rims and cross drilled front rotors, doesn't really look lowered with H&R springs, and no hint of the 100 shot of nos about to jack up your world...

I've always loved the Maxima's sleeper status even stock. I always enjoy the feeling whenever I pull up next to a supposedly fast/sporty car that I could whack him or give him a good run... if I wanted to.

I think as the years progress and time and money permit my car would pick up some sleeper status. I might do some suspension mods, but I have NO plans to ever drop the car or get a body kit or loud exhaust. Barring new wheels my car would probably look "neo-stock" when I'm done with it.

If the car looks stock and gives no hints to what's under the hood, then YES! Congrats!

Hey gang..."nondescript", "enigma"..."sleeper", I love those terms. I just got the mod bug last July....reason. You guys and living near Stillen. My 96 GXE, Exterior: Pebble beige metallic,Tint, Nitto 555 on Momo Sport "17. Hidden from view: Stillen cat back "B" with muff, RSB, FSTB, K&N Hi Flo intake...Stillen Set-up...oh yeah,,,,,nose mask. I am stewing over having Stillen install their S/C...but, do not know if I want to drop the dough. I have always though of our Maxies as surprise packages which can hold their own against most the crowd out there. Hey, what the heck...we're only driving family sedans...right?

Can I sleep on the above?

I have 235/45/17ZR Michelin Pilot Sports on 17 x 8 SSR GT1s and a shaved trunklid. Other than a 110mm tip on my GReddy catback system muffler, the rest is sleepy: Suspension Techniques lowering springs with Tokico struts. Stillen FSTB, RSTB, and RSB. UR UDP and Stillen aluminum flywheel. JWT Stage II clutch and Stillen STS. Quaife ATB differential and Place polyurethane engine mounts. Cattman/Place Racing CAI and Cattman SS Y-pipe. JWT upgraded ECU/NCM and NOS 65-HP dry-shot system with remote bottle control, bottle heater, and purge valve. Autometer Fuel Pressure gauge, EGT gauge, & N2O gauge. Optima yellow-top battery in the trunk. When I drive conservatively, the car purrs and is low-profile. When I down-shift and nail it, it wails! I have yet to fill the N2O tank for the first time. I'm still waiting to receive my N2O pressure gauge and the safety blow off valve for the N2O bottle from Summit. I feel the need for [sneaky] speed...

I'm definetly going the sleeper way. Stock SE rims, tint and clear corners, but underneath, intake & Y pipe.
I think that the firs sleeper aspect of the Maxima is that it comes with stick. Not many people know that. Someone pulls up next to you at a light and think that they're going up against a stock auto mid 16 second max, then after the light changes, after a hard chirp to second, you know you just got beat by a 5spd max.

Everything on the outside is stock....
including the rims (damn it, i bent one of my rims
and I can't replace it - got discontinued...why Konig why?!)

But on the inside: blower, ypipe, eibachs n konis....
Muffler is stock too...though I'm thinking of changing that.
