Anyone notice a weird smell in car when pushing it hard?

I can't describe the smell, but all I know is that it's not the smell of the rubber. It's more like rotten eggs or something. It seems to happen every so often when I am pushing the car hard.

Should I bring it into the dealer to check it out?

My Friend, change your transmission fluid. That stuff starts to smell like butt when its gets old and you punch the throttle. Good Luck..

My max stinks above 6K because the fuel mixture becomes extremely rich.

it's normal; you're just smelling the reaction the cats have with the slight amount of unburnt fuel passing through your catalytic converters.

Nick you have a 5spd. Usually Autos make this smell on old tranny fluid. Now, the Cat can cause this smell also but Usually it doesn't come inside the car unless you have a Exhaust leak.

Yeah, change the fluid. If you had an auto, I'd say it was band burn, but the MTX probably doesn't have the same problem...maybe...I don't know lol.

Has anyone noticed that he has a 2K2 6-spd? Although I have the same smell on my 2K1 5-spd when I romp on it.

I have noticed this too - it starts right at the end of 3rd gear, if I have been at WOT since a stop, and continues untill I back off. (I really noticed it when I hit 120 that one time....I was in fourth, whatever rpm that would be)

I've noticed that smell sometimes also and I just had my auto tranny fluid changed. Only happens if I floor it a few times in a short period of time.

it's not the auto tranny... it's the cats and rich a/f mixture causing the smell.
