IS 300 L Tuned!

I am selling my maxima tommarow I really want to purchase an IS 300 L Tuned and I need the ORGs opinion. What do you guys think about it? The kit costs 7600 above sticker and it comes with 18's, full kit, grill, droped, and exaust. The thing is that you can neg. the price of the car and the kit together. I think I can get the total without tax + lic for 34,000. What do you guys think??? You can see pics of the car here:

http://www.familycar.com/RoadTests/L...300/Photos.htm
( the L Tuned one is at the bottom, I want a dark grey one)

Opinions???????

$7000 over sticker seems like alot. So you're now looking at about $37-$38k?

For that small of a car, why not wait for the Mitsu EVO II? Does 280hp, AWD and Ralley heritage want to make you wait? Even stock, it will tear the Lexus a new one in the dry, wet, mud, snow and whatever else.

I always liked the Is300 since it came out...matter of fact this is my first time seieng the "L-tuned" version and its funny that, thats almost the exact way I used to describe how I would make it look 2 years back. and it looks AWESOME, the wheels go great with that car!! anyways perosnally I think its a great car, not the quickest for its price, but there are plenty mods out there to make up for that....I mean I wouldn't call it a "trumped up" Civic, but I don't see it being worth $35k either, the interior isn't so hot.

I personally dont like it, like the other guys said it looks like atricked out Civic for near 40,000 Yikes! I looked at it when I got my 02 Max and just thought it didnt offer much for what they were asking for it. The G35 is probably a better buy and you will somewhat be familiar with it.

Please do not get the L version, save the 7grand and put a turbo into a normal 5 speed IS. L version looks nasty, the only good thing about it are the tires.

For $7600, you can get your own 'favorite' rim/tires, body kit etc.

But if I were you... I'd spend it on the Rod Millen Supercharger kit when it comes out and just get rims/tires... That is if you're really stuck on the the IS300. I'd get the G35 and wait for a S/C.

EXACTLY!!!!

but I agree, if you're looking to spend ~$30K+ look into the G35, MUCh better value than the IS300 will ever be(auto or manual)...and the last pics I saw of that black G35 with that body kit... ...OMG that thing was beautiful!!!

How about the G35 Coupe or Sedan???

I am not a fan of the Toyota Altezza aka IS300. For 34k do much better IMO.

Definitely wait for the G35 Coupe, or just get the G35 Sedan. They are both hot a$$ cars. Save the couple of extra G's for mods, nice rims, or whatever. Plus from what I've heard, the G35 handling is real good too.

Besides, G35 (Coupe or the Sedan) is faster than a IS300 in 0-60, as well in 1/4 times (stock...).

I am not saying IS 300 is a bad car, it's a good car... But I think you'll be gettin' more for your $$$ with the G35.

I agree. I would go for a BMW or Audi for the extra $$. If they can do something more than mostly appearance and handling upgrades then it might be worth a look. A 250 hp IS300 would be sweet.

What do you guys think of the Matrix? Totally different kind of car but I read in MT that it handles very well, and has a 180hp model.

Doesn't matter still makes me wanna for its pure ugliness.

S4/G35 Coupe/ 330Ci all come in that price range and are much better choices than the IS300.

L-TUNED IS NOT WORTH IT!!!! you can get your own body kit for 1500, painted for 1000, wheels, tires, and coilovers for 2500 and sway/struts bars for 500 and you are not anywhere near the damn 7600 they want for it... it's TOO overpriced for what you get.. WAY TOO MUCH!!!

amazing car though, my friend has a 2001 with the top gun kit, nos fogger kit, 3 tv's, 18 axis wheels, and gs400 brakes.. nice car..

OK,

Do you guys know what L-Tuned is? Most of you don't get what he pays for. L-Tuned has all moded suspension wis struts and everything included. Bodykit, wheels and a few other neat toys. What you pay for is the fact that L-Tuned does not void the manufacturer's or dealer's warantee and that is important. If he was to do it all by himself he would not be able to fix anything if it goes wrong (nothing ever does with Lexus cars though). If you have all this cash in hand' you can get a much better car then that. Overall, I'd get a Supra; however IS300 is sweet. Not sure about Infinity quality to tell you anything about G35. It looks good though!

I agree with everyone. The pimped up civic is nice and the L tuned is even sweeter, but for cash, go for better quality.

Just do yourself a favor, don't base your decision on what everyone is telling you.

If you like the car go for it. Life is short, so enjoy it the way you want to.

Good luck!

You know, you'll probably end up paying extra in the insurance for the L-scrape IS300 since it had the mods from the dealer. What classification would the insurance company put the car into...... most likely to be stolen, vandalized, etc.???
Just a consideration.

Although, those rims are sweeeet.
That's the only thing I like on it.

Get an IS300, they're AWESOME cars IMO. Don't get the L-Tuned.. mod it yourself and save some cash, probably cheaper insurance too

The factory addons would be more worth it if the $7000 included a significant boost in the "go fast" category, if you know what I mean. As is, it's $7000 for suspension, body kits, and wheels. And less than 10hp increase from a different exhaust. You can probably buy an IS300, and mod it yourself for less. It's more fun that way too.

Keep these things in mind, I will not pay 7600 for the parts. The fleet manager told me that he would take off 3000 from the l tuned model. Keep in mind that this is before even sitting down with the guy. I dont think the mods are worth 7600, but they are worth 4600! Also, the all the parts are under the factory warranty, and the price of the upgrades are added to the monthly payment. Meaning that I dont have to fork out 5 grand cash. This is where I stand, and right know I think im going for it....
ill keep you guys posted.

One thing about it though is this. Do you want the L tuned to stand out? I am sure it will for now but what about when there are more Ltuned versions out there that all look EXACTLY like yours. It seems I would rather pick my own and that way there have something more original.

No to knock the IS300 as it is a nice car with lot of good qualities. I would surely take the 330 for an extra $$. People can recognized the Bimmer right away, but many will look at the Lex trying to figure out if it is NOT a modded Civic. I would probably go lower in price and get something that is a better bang for the bucks.

Probably because most people opt for the BMW for the price of L-tuned, more of a "I've made it!!" kind of thing in Cali. Lot's of superficial people here.

You know, you might be better off with the L-tuned since the realiability on the Lexo's are better than the Bimmers.

Good luck to ya nonetheless.
