Common e-brake problem on the max
my e-brake was on whem i started my car the other day. it was really cold out that morning. i put it down and put it into reverse. i car felt like the brakes were on so i lifted the e-brake and it when up 2 inches w/ no tention and stopped where it normally would. what happened is the brake didn't let go when i put it down. the normal tention when you pull up your e-brake was felt about half way up. it was locked in the half way point. i let it sit for some time while letting the car warm up. i was pumping to brakes and was messing w/ the brake. finally the thing started to come down. i brought it to a few shops and they said this was a common problem due to the max's brake set up. even the dealer said this. the max has a different brake set up them most cars or something like that. have any of you guys had this problem??
Try the search feature. I've seen this posted here before but don't recall what the problem was.
Btw... My rear brakes freeze up on my 85 rear drum brake equiped truck. So when it freezes I just leave my truck in park, parking brake off. I've never heard of this problem on a disk brake setup though.

It was me who posted that....
My e-brake froze so I posted the comment... Honestly, there isn't much you can do besides not use your e-brake... Really though, here is what I did. I put the e-brake down, (e-brake still stuck of course) I drove in reverse and drive about 10 feet up and down the driveway slowly.... hoping it would solve the problem, after warming up my car for over 20 min. now... I decided to sit in the car and "Pump" my e-brake... I held the button in, pulled it up, and pushed it down... did it fast, did it slow... mine started to loosen up..
Hope this helps

You don't...
Just kidding.. I honestly don't know how to fix it... someone told me it might be water in the line and that's what freezes... but what won't hurt is to call the dealer and ask them...
good luck, let me know if you figure something out
