I must have the worst luck in the world, my car broke again

Today I was at the mall buying lottery tickets, I go to leave put my car in reverse only to find that it is stuck in reverse. I fiddled with riding the clutch trying to get it out of gear but no luck. I even drove in circles in reverse for a little to try to get it unstuck. Nope. So I backed it into a parking space and had a friend drive me home.

This is unbelievable. Reverse was also the only gear I did not have cryogenically treated either. This will be the 3rd time my transmission was blown. Fortunately, I still have parts left over from my last transmission job to fix it. But I really dont feel like fixing it. This is most likely the last straw with this car, I'll drive carless for the spring and summer as I've got the Honda motorcycle and the parent's cars. And since I turn 21 later this August, that is when my insurance will drop as well so I can afford to insure a different car. I have to say I've got the worst luck in the world.

So, anybody interested in a Quaife differential, Cattman Y (still out for repair), Stillen B, trailer hitch etc?

Geez...you must be cursed.

Yeah you should have sold the darn thing when it was working. I think you must have got a lemon of a car to begin with.

Update

#1, I did not win the $155 million lottery

#2, About an hour ago I went to the mall to meet a tow truck driver who was gonna flat bed the thing to my house. He hooked the front tow chains to the tow hooks and proceeded to drag the car. 2 feet later he gets back out, checks the car and then tells me the car popped outta reverse. I drove it around the parkin lot, seems to be OK. I dunno, this car is wierd. Hope it doesnt get stuck in reverse again. If it does I know how to fix.

Still, I'd get rid of if and fast.

Try not to slaughter your next car. My guess is that you will have the same problems. All you ever do is complain about your car; perhaps you got a lemon, or perhaps the 5th gens are that bad, but who else has all these problems except you? I had like 2 problems with my 4th gen (still a "minima"), just wear& tear and an incorrect installation. Go get a car you think won't cause problems, do the same mods you did you yours with the same person working on the installations. The same problems will crop up, most likely. Just like someone I know with an 02 max that is always broken.... It's usually a "user error," or in this case, "driver error."

Eric,

Love your car, it will love you back. This I promise.
Abuse your car, it will abuse you.

Seriously though, sorry about all that hope everything turns out fine. If you do decide to part out the car, I'm curious to know whether the quaife would fit a 2k2 6 speed diffy. Probably not, but if it would I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Just to let you know =).

Re: Update

Man my advice to you is like the others, please do yourself a favor and sell it, if your having that many problems is not worth spending your hard earned money on something that breaks down again and again. I did have a leak in the tranny but lucky the car was under warranty and it got fixed, I just paid $50. Sorry to hear your having that many problems with your car!

I had this happen to my 96. The first time, I had to have it towed, and the service guys more or less just got under the car and pushed on the tranny, and that fixed it. It ended up happening again, and I was able to get it back into gear by driving in reverse, and then letting off the accellerator quickly and popping it out of reverse. Apparantly that relieved the tension in the tranny just long enough to get it out of reverse. How frustrating, though.

hey eric, u said on yer first tranny u blew 2nd right? either way , have you checked your linkage? maybe its out of spec and when u blew the tranny the first time you over shifted, thats what i think i did at least, completely my fault though. i got the vlsd tranny and i love it except that it still leaks. did u use your stock axles with the quaife or did u have to get the I30 axles, its what i had to do to make the tranny work but its still leaking except that infiniti cant get me the little dustcap seal for the drivers side halfshalft differential input, if u had this problem please help me out. fluid is getting expensive. im almost positive its not the bearing cause its still tight and i dont think that vlsds had that problem. if anyone can get me a legit part number let me know

How funny would it be if he sells the car and the new owner joins Maxima.org to get advice on the problems he has with the transmission.
