getting (light!) rims for graduation but which ones?

well, my parents decided to get me a set of rims for graduation. i want 17s or maybe 18s but i want rims that weigh less than my stock ones (dunno how much that is) i saw these konig sub zeros http://www.whalentire.com/wheeldetai...51442S&size=17 they weigh only 16 pounds and cost $135 a piece. let me know any recommendations!

Hey man them rims i thnk will look good. Get the rims that you want on your car, don't worry about what others think, it is YOUR car, and YOU drive it everyday, get what you like! Ya heard me?

BTW TheBlue got some ROTA's similar to what your looking at, heres a pic so you can see (hope you don't mind TheBlue)

The Sub-Zeros are nice. How much of a budget are they giving you. Spend enough and they can be feathers....

thanks guys. i just wanted some ideas because i can't seem to find any rims that are light weight that don't cost an arm and a leg (volk) i just wanted everyone to post up some rims they thought were fairly light. they didnt really give a budget but i dont want them to spend too much. if it gets really expensive then i might go 1/2 and 1/2 on the price with them. ideas? i like the sub zeros too... and The Blue's but i need a silver color.

Hmm...i've only seen one car in my lifetime with them...and it was a stang at the beach.

Where do you live? I am in central Florida and there are tons of hooked up cars here....100 times more than when I was in denver...

In case you change your mind here are some pics of the caffeines on my ride:

It's almost impossible to get a light rim for $200/rim ... you gotta spend to get the quality ... maybe look around for a used set?

Otherwise .. get my rims ... 18 x 8.5 Volks ... only 16 lbs

Also check out www.groupbuycenter.com ... there's always group buys on Konig, RH & even Volks now!

IMHO the rims look too plain and like generic tuners (not stylish), but they are 17's and @ 16 pounds for $135 each is better than not bad...it's a very good deal.

who has a 2k2, it just doesn't make sense to go from 17X7 stock rims to 17X7 aftermarket. If you get the wider rim say 7.5 to 8.5 there are so many more choices in tires. On the stock 17's there are about 3 choices.

I've also been looking at the sub zeros in addition to the ENKEI Bortex RPM2's (16.2 lbs for 17 x 8 as quoted on the ENKEI website). The wheels I have now are 16.5 lbs but I'm looking to change them because they are rather plain (tuner wheels). BTW, below is a site that has wheel weights.

I thought I was the only one that liked the bortex rpm2, I will be getting mine this summer, probably 18's.

I am with you on subzeros. Actually, when I posted about a month ago, noone replied . Many ppl would tell you to go with $2,000 rims, dont listen to anybody, because their situation may be different than yours. There are no limits here, you can spend 5 g's on a set of wheels, too, but is it what you really want to do?

You can not beat the Subzeros in the price/weight dept. I have been long thinking of those myself, but not sure how they will look on my sunlit sand 5th gen. Only Virus has a pic of his car with rims that resemble Subzeros.

Very good choice bro

Let me tell you something...17x7 looks WAAAY to thin, especially on a Max. The stock 6.5's actually look fatter becuase they have more sidewall.

8+ inch tires are the only way to go...they make the car look alot more musclular.

Do you want 18's or 17's ? Caffeines in 18" form only come in 18x7.5, the 17's are 17x8.

Sometimes caffeines will pop up on ebay, but RARELY in 17x8. I suggest going to your local Discount Auto parts Co. and order directly from them. Only $650 which is good priced. I also got my Nankang Sport tires for only $80 bucks a peice, with A ratings, 380 treadlife, and H-rated. They are soft and grip well.

Also is your car lowered? Caffeines looked alot better on my car once I lowered her, in stock height they (and any rim) look kinda weird.

Good luck and be sure to get some pics up! Send me a PM or somethin if you need anymore help...

these weight no more than 22 lb/each. check discounttire.com the same package will cost you less then 1200 shipped to your door...save 300 dolla.

Why do you guys go with 17x7.0 rims? 7.5 width is the way to go!

in my opinion, go with 235, your replacement tires will not be as expensive as if you went with 245. So, what kind of wheel are you going with?

They will fit with NO problems. I have a friend who is running 17x9.5's on his 2001 maxima with no problems. when he turns the wheel all the way to either side, there is some very slight rubbing on that plastic part that you take off to do oil changes, but it can be cut or removed. But it is very slight and only happens at a full turn. I'm actually going to buy them from him and put them on my 4th gen when he gets his new rims next week. I test fitted them today on my car and they look awesome on the maxima. I'm not sure what the offset is on these rims, but they definately do fit w/o any problems. They do not even stick out of the fenders...just flush or slightly inset a bit. I know I will get flamed by everyone saying you can't fit 9.5" wide rims on a max, but you can. I should have pictures after I get them installed next weekend. btw, all 4 tires are running on 265 z-rated unidirectional tires.
