General Engine Question

What are the technical differences between the VQ30DE (and bored out VQ35DE) in the Maxima and the VG30DE in the (normally aspirated) 300ZX? As far as I know, they are both 3 liter DOHC 60 degree V6's, what else is different? What do VQ, VG, and DE stand for? When were these engines developed?

Thanks.

Please search, this has been discussed at length.

The VG and VQ families of engines are completely different, with virtually no interchangeable parts. The VQ has an aluminum block while the VG has an iron block...just for starters.
