Competition tires for track racing (non drag)

I know this keeps coming up but I don't see a lot of people racing their maximas on a track other than the drag strip (I've searched the site).

I'm basically asking if anyone has had experience with various competiton tires on the track and which ones they prefered.
I don't care about tire noise, hydroplanning or anything like that. I'm going to buy them for the track and only for the track. Therefore, dry traction, wear and wet traction is really all I care about.
Hoosiers are out of the question (too expensive for such a short life). I'm hoping to get a tire that will last me at least half a season.

Well I don't know what size you need, but some that come to mind are Yokohama Advan A032R, Kumho Victoracer V700 and Ecsta V700, Michelin Pilot Cup ($$$), BFG G-Force R1 and Toyo Proxes RA-1.

The Yoks and BFGs mentioned are the only way to go, goto www.google.com and type in solo 1 or solo 2 and tires and you'll see what comes up.

I haven't tried any of the above tires myself, but I know many people who swear by the Victoracers.

If you plan on driving to/from the event and not swap the wheels/tires, the Yok Advan A032Rs are good. They aren't as sticky as the Hoosier or Kumho but they last longer.

If you are swapping out the wheel/tire at the event, go with the Hoosier or Kumho.

I get about 80-90 runs on a set of A032R, including driving them on the street. WIth the other two tires, you'd get about 40 runs (less if you drive on the street with them). Guys running the Hoosiers get about 1/2 season out of them.

For wet traction, the A032R are better due to the grooves but most of the time you'll be racing in dry weather.

I am swapping them at the track.

Half a season?? I thought it would be less than that. Hoosiers have a 40 treadwear. I was looking at the Kumho Ecsta V700 but they're fairly new and don't have a lot of reviews.

I was hoping maybe someone on this site had tried different tires and could comment on their likes and dislikes of the tires.

Yes, I've tried the Kumho Victoracer V700's and the Toyo RA-1's (in road racing at least). Both have horrible tread life but that is to be expected. The Kumho's are a little bit quieter if you care at all. As for wet and dry traction, I've found both to be similar but I feel like the Toyo's edge out the Kumho's slightly in wet...but with the price difference, I have stuck with Kumho for the last 4 sets of race tires. Besides the cost, the biggest difference I've noticed also was the warm-up time...the Toyo's heat up much faster.

I've heard that Toyo RA1's are really good.....
My friend runs these on a Audi S4 thats race prepped. He really likes them a lot. So much so that he bought the Toyo T1-S as his street tires and said he even ran them once at the track and he thought they were the best street tires for the track he's ever raced on. These comments were based on tires available a year ago.

I've also heard that VictoRacers are good, but I don't have much detail on their performance.
