I had one in my max for one day. Not loud enough. A 60watt Rockford Fosgate amp with a 10" box can produce much better bass.

I use a bazooka tube, competition series. and it shakes the crap out of my car. The secret to a bazooka tube is placement. It doesnt matter how big the trunk is, but where you place it in the trunk. I like the tube because it is designed for clarity without letting everyone else know you have one. Its a matter of taste. If you want other cars to feel your bass get a box. If you want nice sound without others hearing it get a tube.

I used to have one in a smaller car, and it played well in there. It's real advantage is that it's a simple way to add some bass, making it a ideal girlfriend solution. Do experiment with placement, though- you should get a louder response if it's aimed towards one of the rear corners of the trunk.

I use a dedicated Alpine amp to run 1 single SAS Bazooka. It is clearer then a lot of the boxes I have heard around here. Coupled with Focal mids and tweets, it is crystal clear. Remember, it is all about placement too. if you just lay it in your trunk, it will sound like a fart. IF you position it correctly, there will be a dramatic improvement in sound quality. Hey deathwish, what type of tube were you using and what was the source of the power/signal?
I guess it comes down to simple preference. I can crank my system and you can barely here it outside the car with the windows rolled up, yet its vibrating your insides when sitting in the car. I like that better then "bassing" down the street. Just my preference.

I think it's the Punch 60 or the Punch 100. It's pushing a JL 10W6.

If it's a Punch 60 DSM (an older model), that's a good amp. Its actual output bridged mono into 4 ohms is 210 watts. If you have the 10W6's voice coils paralleled, then the 3-ohm load is squeezing a bit more out of the amp. So it's not exactly a "60-watt amp".

Bazooka Tube
My bro had a 10" bazooka tube in his RX7. He had a seperate alpine amp and the bass was really bad (weak and farting). So he threw a 12" box sub in there and used the same amp and it pounds now (a bit too much, his car is being rattled to pieces
)
