Tire Woes
I just replaced my front tires with PepBoys Futura 225/50-16s on my 97 SE stick. The car has 48,000 miles on it and I still have the stock Toyo a05 tires on the rear. They are just about done in tread, but now a new problem cropped up. It seems that a screw has managed to lodge itself into my left rear tire. I do not believe it is leaking. What should I do about this? I dont want to pull it out, cause obviously it'll leak. But then again, I dont want to be driving down the road and the tire blows out for some reason. Should I just make this as an excuse to get new tires, or attempt to get it patched?
At 48k, it's time to dump the old Toyos. Get yourself a set of Dunlop SP5000's or SP8000's and put them on the front wheels, and put your Pepboys at the rear. You'll notice a world of difference in handling.
Make sure whereever you get your new tires, they come with a lifetime free flat repair/rotations/rebalancing deal. Usually Big-O, Firestone (gag), or Sears has those deals.
