does a lightweight flywheel affect driveability?

someone told me the lightweight flywheel will cause difficulty in starting the motor. does anyone have anything to say about this mod? is it worth the performance gains and price?

It doesn't affect starting the motor (at least I've never heard of that) but it does affect your standing start ability, you are more likely to stall your motor with a lightened flywheel. You have to do more clutch and throttle play.

None. They have the effect of removing weight from the car. Because they rotate and their speed is affected by gearing they have less rotational mass. The effect is approximately equal to a 200lb weight reduction in 1st, 100 in second, 50 in third, and minimal difference in 4th and 5th. I could give you exact numbers if I wanted to do all the calculations, but you get the idea.

ok thanks for the replies. i was told by a well known boosted member that he had trouble starting the car because of the flywheel. now that i think of it, it could be do to something else.
