ok...I got my analysis back from Blackstone labs yesterday of my Mobil 1 5w-30. My car showed more wear of Chromium and Iron than when I had Castrol GTX 5w-30 last august. They said that the Mobil 1 isn't doing as good of a job of protecting my piston rings as the Castrol did. WTF???? I thought synthetic was supposed to be SOO much better....F that...I might just flush my engine and go back to Castrol GTX.
I'll send Bill the full results when I have some time so he can add them to the sticky

For the kind of mileage you drive, Amsoil is probably your best bet. As the spreadsheet shows, each of my Maximas went a year on it with nothing more than a filter change at 6 months. Also, the results have shown higher miles driven per year usually dictates/allows longer drain intervals, especially with synthetics.
Having said that, Mobil 1 is not a "bad" oil. It has been lab proven to go at least 8k miles on one filter with "high mileage" driving conditions. However, it has been shown to at least need a filter change in "short mileage" or harsher driving conditions, if not a full change. I'm not comfortable recommending Mobil 1 for over 10k to 12k miles of use, with a filter change at 5k to 6k.........
When this "Super Synthetic" Mobil 1 hits shelves and is readily available, then this opinion will probably be useless.....
