difference between 3rd gen. and 4th gen air filters?
Is there a difference between an OEM air filter that came stock on a 3rd generation maxima and one that came stock on a 4th gen. maxima? I recently ordered an air filter from nissan-accessories.com and the box the filter came in didn't indicate that a 1997 Nissan Maxima would be applicable with this air filter. It listed only Infiniti w/ VG30DE engine, Infiniti G20 w/ SR20D engine, Sentra w/ GA16DE and SR20DE engines, and Maxima w/ VG30E and VG30DE engines would be applicable. I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima GLE (VQ30DE engine) and they sent me this air filter. Does this sound right to you guys? I emailed them and they said it would fit a 1997, but my question is is this the actual genuine OEM filter that came stock in 1997 Maxima?

Hey, thanks for the info. Im glad they sent me the wrong air filter.
