Service Engine Soon light came on...please help (i already used search)

well i try to go and get codes and reset the ECU, but the little box by the gas pedal is to adjust idle speed and not for diagnosis.

I have a 99 Max and have about 49,000 miles, the light just came for no reason. the car seems to run fine.

any ideas b4 i take it to the dealer.

It's for diagnosis, what box are you talking about?

i meant the ECU. on the side of the ECU, the sticker says that the adjustment screw is for changing the idle speed. but i dont see the adjustment screw to get the ECU codes and to reset the ECU?

99 Maximas seem to be a little different than other 4th gens. If your ECU doesn't look like the one in the vbmaxima site, go to the dealer.

My uncle, whom i bought my max from, told me about this happening sometimes...the check engine light will come on for no reason when a small bit of grit or whatever is caught on the highly sensitive oxygen sensors in your car. beacuse of this, the engine light comes on, and usually goes away in about a week or so, maybe more. if theres no history of that, get it checked out, but my uncle indicated that when he had it looked at, they told him what i just told you. my max is 95 though, so i dunno if its different.
