i just got back from the DMV . got a speeding ticket for 85 in a 50 ... had to go before a judge .... he says "you're driving to fast" ...yeah, thanks captain obvious .... as he's handing me my license he says .. you're license is going to be suspended for 31 days ...... what a kick in the nuts ... so i have to update my sig becuase i thought i was going to get 8 points ... what a crappy day

 

Sorry to hear that man. Because the punishment should fit the crime so to speak. I guess it's the 35 over, too bad the limit was only 50. I think you should get $150 and 3 points, that sounds reasonable. Suspension is a bit harsh. Whatever you do, DO NOT VIOLATE THE SUSPENSION. Some people think they're only going around the corner and whammo they get busted and everything escalates. Again, I think your punishment is not really appropriate for 85. Many people drive that in a 65 witout thinking twice. Good luck, don't let this **** get you down, it happens.

i got a ticket for $1k+. thats ONE ticket. i was going double the limit on the fwy.

 

wow .. now thats a ticket .. i'm probably going to get a restricted drivers license ... i can only drive to work, school and health appoiontments (doctor, dentist, etc) ... it does suck but there is a lesson to be learned ... speeding is a no no

 

get the Fu#k outta here... did you ask to make payments?

i do 85 on my way home from work a lot of the time, cus it's the middle of the night and there is not a soul on the road.. i need to invest in a radar detector... sorry to hear about the ticket, thats ****ing nuts

 

RADAR.. get one! like 75 bucks.. mine "caught" every cop untill it got shut in my door, damn.lol

dont worry.. you will get over it.. and be back on the road in no time...
i had the police drive with me untill i got home because they said i was out too late + speeding (going 75, in a 50 at 4:00) i did not "drive" like a maxima owner for almost a week then i got my self on a back road and floored it.. it was great

i was going 110mph in a 65mph. cop didnt use radar..he paced me. i never bought a radar detector cuz i knew it wasnt going to save my ***. most cops out here in cali dont use radar.

damn cali cops@.. now im getting really worried getting a 130mph ticket..

 

Did you get any suspension or jail time for the 130mph ticket?

I know of a guy in the UK who got 3mos jail (served 6 weeks) for being caught doing 153mph in an M5. Speed limit is 70mph on the freeways. Over 100mph (in fact, 30mph over the limit anywhere) is an automatic suspension for up to a year. Usually 1-3mos

 

We all have the "need for speed"; that's why we drive Maximas. But there is the time and place for it...

You're asking for trouble if you try speeding on busy motorways, zipping in and out of cars, nabbing those "openings". I've seen two collisions due to some jerk offs who just had to push their luck. The time you save just isn't worth the risk.

If you're on a lonely road and know where the cops stake out, fine--go for it. Otherwise, speed in packs. That way it reduces your odds on getting a ticket. If a cop appears on the scene, he/she may go for the leader or the trailer, who knows.

I wouldn't go more than 15 mph over the limit for sustained periods. At least if you detect radar, you can slow down enough to appear going 5-10 mph over... cops are usually waiting for the 20+mph over the limit violators.
