Question about tire pressure when racing

When I got my 14.2 in my sig I had my fronts at 25psi and rears at 38psi (to reduce drag). Last weekend with my intake and new wheels and tires I ran 30psi in the front and 32psi in the back. My times suffered by around 2/10ths and around 3-4mph. I didn't think it made that much difference, but obviously the truth is in the pudding. I also read that Steve was hitting 2.1 60fts with 18psi in the front!!!! My best 60ft was 2.26 (ever in this car). Any comments from the peanut gallery on this? Also, what rpms are you guys launch from? I'm doing a quick release from 3K.

IMO, your times and MPH didn't suffer because of the tire PSI. I can see gaining some ET due to lack of traction, but your MPH shouldn't vary hardly at all. Loosing 3-4mph is very significant. Your best MPH was over 99mph which is significantly faster than most other 2k2s. The truth is, you probably ran under some excellent conditions (high pressure, low temps, low humidity) when you got your best ET/MPH. Now the weather is warmer, humidity is up, and the baro pressure is fairly weak and you're running slower. Conditions alone can be worth .3-.5 seconds and 3-5mph. The VQ hates the hot and moist air. Believe me, I know. Don't be expecting any bests until fall comes back around.
