Question about Pics - Can anyone use them?

If you have pics, should anyone be able to use them without your permission? How about if it's a company that has taken your pictures, modified them, and then used them for their personal gain?

Should you at least be notified? Do they need your permission?

i believe unless specifically put under public domain, images can be considered as intellecutal property.

What do you mean by public domain?
If I had the picture on my website and a company takes, modified and used it, do they need my permission?

Same thing happened to me. I took some pictures of 1hotmax's car, put them on my personal website and a comapny took them and used them to sell their products.

I sent them an email and got no response but in a week or so, they deleted the pictures and used some other ones.

If you're the author of the pictures, then yes, of course, anyone who wants to use them needs your permission!

Yes, they do. Someone used on of my pictures to sell a product and I bounced on it. I told him that he can use my picture if I get a cut. He took down the picture.

So I only have to have a little statement at the bottom of the page that says all material is copyrighted? What if I did?

There is more to copywriting then that. Anyway, if you ask them to take it down and they do, there is nothing you can do, if you ask and they don't, then you can sue. Pictures on the internet are really hard to keep private...you would need watermarks among other things.
