So I'm driving home from work and this kid (who looked like a reject from the backstreet boys) is driving this late model tricked out Celica with Blue tinted Altezzas. So I pass by him as he pulls onto the highway and I guess he sees my Maxima.org stickers so figures hes a badazz and can whoop me. So I get stuck behind a truck long enough for him to catch up to me, and I go around, he starts pulling on me quick. I mean real quick. He gets to about 1 car length in front of me and I start reeling him in, and pass him. I keep on going and we eventually end up at a red light, and he rolls his window down, and says " You got NOS too?" I'm like, "no, nothing but motor." He was running the Juice!!! And I still beat him!! Needless to say, he was a bit suprised. Oh well. Chalk one up to VQ engines I guess...

I dont think it was a GTS, but it was shaved and he had a body kit so I'm not sure
I have run with a GTS when i was stock, and it was fairly even

a 4th gen 5spd, few bolt-ons can walk a gts easily w/o breaking a sweat.

a 4th gen auto, with all bolt-ons.. will be walked by a gts on a straight ahead, 70mph and up. It was done to me. I've gotten walked by twice since owning the max (2K gts and 2k? m3).

the max with the sc "should" run 13's on street tires

the celica with a 50shot will run 13's if the guy knows how to use the bottle right

this one, im not 100% sure of on the max end of the spectrum

its a pretty even match up thru out the whole stages of evolution.
stock to modded.

then you get factory freaks that run 14's stock {4th gen}
same with celica's

don't say celica's are slow because you beat a stock one and you're modded
or vice versa.

you may have more power, but remember, you're over 500 lbs heavier then a gts

 

What if the GTS is auto?
I remember you mentioning this before, but I've beat one GTS from a 60mph roll on. We raced a few times, and each time I won out. I'm not sure what tranny the celica had, but I'm guessing it was an auto since I was able to beat him with my Auto maxima?

i raced a NEW one with a full body kit and a BIG wing..LOL well it was loud, cool looking, but slow... it was a GTS auto, i took him from the hole then he closed the gap to 2 car leanths.. then i just rolled on him..... i was thinking he was going to rape me in fron tof my girl... but she was like WOW.... that car sucks ***,, because my car is slow from the start... i can only beet little kids one 10 speeds in rainy weather..

1998 auto gxe vs latest model GTS auto.
We were pretty dead even, but I was toying with her so she couldn't cut infront of me. I floored it and then let off a little and kept doing it so I am sure if I just floored it I could have passed her by a lot or maybe she wasn't flooring? Anyways I would say a celica is on par with a Maxima. Auto vs Auto and Man vs Man.

had half a car from 40-80, then i instantly jumped 3 cars and kept going, the car falls out of lift after 80 mph {shifts to third gear} and doesn't come back in till 98-105 mph

Kit99bar has a GTS. I've seen a video of a GTS with CAI/cat-back running consistent 14.2's. And read that with a CAI a GT could run low 15's.

 

Guess I got lucky I raced an Auto, or else I'd would have been looking at his tail lights.

Also, they make power all the way to redline. Whereas 4th gens (minus the people with VIs) make power to around 5400 rpms and then it goes downhill.
