Wow, that's pretty steep. I've never been in a wreck, but had numerous speeding, suspension, tow etc and I pay $1200 a year. But I'm listed under the minivan as an ocassional driver. not cool...

Mine went down from 200 a month with an 99 Acura CL and a 98 Pathfinder, to 120 with lower deductables and homeowners insurance. Then it went down to 800-850 a year with just the I30 after selling the other 2 cars.

Just turned 21, '96 Max SE and '89 Jeep Wrangler, $1278 per year with All-State. No collisions or tickets. All-State gave me the '25 years old and married' discount on my Maxima. So for my Max alone its about $550/yr. That's how their rates work if you have two vehicles with them. As far as I know this is the only company that does this. Their rates blew me away, my Farmers agent was quoting $250/month ($3,000/yr) IF he could get a special 'pleasure use' rate for my Maxima. Check out All-State!!!

Just learnt how to save about $500 a year on insurance

1) Have a beater car
By having a beater car, you get multi-car discount and you reduce the number of dings

2) Get renters insurance
It knocks off a bit more

3) Get good grades
State Farm offers a good student discount, it remains in effect until you turn 25 - your insurance drops then!

Here's the big one:
I just found out that I could switch my vehicle insurance to "storage" and I plan to do that for the winter months.
a) You don't need to put it in storage - having it parked in your apartment complex parking lot qualifies as storage as long as you don't drive it.
b) it only costs $45 for 6 months storage and you still get comprehensive coverage (stolen, hit & run, etc)
c) No more winter abuse!

I'm 22 male single no accidents or tickets, $45 for 6 months is a DEAL!!! Especially when I'm already using my Escort beater for winter. Think about it

My insurance co. told me explicitly that hit and run falls under collision. Wonder why yours is different? I may have claimed the scratches if it fell under comp since that is $200 deductible where my coll is $500.

Hmm ... I was under the impression that damage sustained to the vehicle while it was parked for storage was covered under comprehensive ... I'll have to check
