I think Nissan hires men in black to come scratch our cars during the night while we are sleeping. Yeah that must be it...nothing else can explain how even the slightest thing can cause a gash in the paint. I have like a zillion scratches on my paint too...i used to go around and touch them all up, but now I've given up. Coat of wax every month and forget about it....

I remember once I was trying to get a pine needle of my car and I just presed down on the needle gently and slid it across the hood, and you guessed a scratch appeared Damn ! this paint sucks.

Damn you guys and your paint....is this just the 4th & 5th gen paint? I haven't really heard alot of complaints about the paint on the 3rd gens...I mean yeah I have scratches on my car but then again I have a 10 year old car & drive through construction & on the freeway with big rigs every day But when I bought the car 3 years ago the paint still seemed really good.

As far as I can tell, only the black Maximas have a problem. Black paint from some other manufacturers is bad, too.

Yup, Nissan paint suck *** big time. I have a black Maxima as well. There are so many minor little stratches all over my Maxima that the only way to solve it is to get a whole new paint job later. I think the paint is just as bad on other colors other than black, except if you a black car, it's definitely more obvious.

Get a White car

Then you can't see all of those hairline scratches. A towel with a speck of dirt or sand can scratch the paint. Does not take much.
Paint is better than most domestic peelers.

yea, stay away from black. It is the prettyest color when its clean, which lasts for about 1 second, but is so easy to cause imperfections. Mines white, has some issues but it pretty nice. Had a black neon, f'n terrible!. That black s600 dude was talking about is like a 100g car and is probably parked in a 100g garage and polished with a 100g diaper.

It does seem like the people with black cars are complaining the most, that's what you get for buying that sexy black! My paint has been great, after 2 years I have 2 chips on the hood and some scratches on the rear door from people banging into my car when they open their doors...

nope, not just black

mine sterling mist sucks!! and while waiting for the Nissan Paint Inspector, there was 1 super black, and a bunch of white and sterling mists there.

I think the robot that sprayed my clear was PimpBot 5000. No one can tell me what happened to it.. little hairline scratches under the clear on every panel except the doors. bizarre. I still have a $400 credit with nissan on getting the hood repainted. saving it for a rainy day, so to speak.

Talk about bad paint. Today, the rear driver side of my car was hit by someone backing their car up. My alarm was going off when I walk to my car. I noticed the rear driver side bumper was all messed up. There were paint chips everywhere. And to the person that hit my car, and ran, F you! Sorry, kind of pissed off.
