More question about the 300ZX TT calipers ->

The calipers I got are shot. I looked up on carparts.com for remam. replacement calipers. Different years have different model numbers. They are even difference within the same year. Are they all the same size wise? 300ZX TT range from 90-96. What's the difference between the calipers from these years?

Found more informations->
After doing some reaserch there are three sets of part numbers for brake calipers.
90-91 are the same.
92-93 are the same.
94+ are the same.
There are some price differences too. The laster years are cheaper.
Now, what the hell are the difference? The material? The size? Which one do I need?

I know the early years were aluminum and they switched to steel later on. Your best bet is to dig around http://www.twinturbo.net in the tech sections or ask in their tech bbs. Good luck.

Alright...I just talked to the 300ZX TT GOD. SGP racing. They said I need the 93 TT brake calipers.

I would rebuild them, but price just doesn't justify me to do so. The seals are $20. The pistons are $30. I can pick up a rebuild at local parts store for $55-$80 each. Plus, I don't know how I can get the pistons out without compressed air. Okay...I'm just lazy =).

Sorry to hear that the calipers are Shot I didn't know that->
But the calipers are from a 93Z. I think I30Krab sent his out to a place to have his rebuild. Maybe he can help you out with that Info. I will be Emailing you later when I get home so look out for it.

Found some more info off twinturbo.net
Looks like the TT calipers are interchangeble.
The 90-91 were made of aluminum.
The 92-93 were made of cast iron.
The 94+ were cast iron, but with minor casting changes.
I guess if I'm lucky I can find a 90-91.

I was thinking of getting ZX calipers too. >
I wonder why the 94-95 calipers won't fit. And wouldn't the lighter aluminum ones from 90-91 be better? I was planning to get those. Since Maximas are lighter than the 300zx I dont think we would get the warping problems the aluminum calipers had when installed on 300zx.

the 90 non turbo calipers (aluminum) are smaller because the rotors are 26 mm. The 90 TT calipers (also AL) are 30 mm.
in 91, the NAs get the same 30 mm rotor and same TT caliper.

Hmmm 26mm vs 30mm. Us maxima guys have to shave 3mm off the tt versions to get them to fit. I wonder if using the na aluminum versions(1990)would make this a direct bolt up w/o shaving?? Do the early na brakes stop the same as the 30mm tt brakes or do they have diff size pistons etc..???

I've always wondered why the Max guys went with the thicker 30 mm rotors. I never mentioned anything, but it'd be cool to see if anyone tried the thinner caliper/rotor.
The early NA caliper is 4 piston

Oops. My mistake. I thought you meant the outside diameter. That's what us maxima guys have to do. Shave 3mm of the outside diameter. sheesh I'm dumb! I knew it wouldn't just be that easy.

I went with the 92-93 year TT Calipers, I believe there
were some problems with the early years. That's why they changed, and if Nissan thought it was better to change then in 92-93 then I wouold go ahead and trust them. You must also cut the heat shield or dust shield in the back, a dremmel worked great. And don't forget to get shave off 3mm. Other than that they worked great and they look cool.

I'm removing my 93 300ttzx brakes & rotors to go with a big brake kit and I am selling them.
9000 miles since installed.
The calipers were professionally rebuilt, the pads are the good porterfields, and the rotors were heat treated and slotted.
They are in excellent shape!! The custom SCM brake lines also are included.
Steve christian at SCM did all the customizing except for the caliper rebuild which was done at a big specialty caliper rebuilder in Cleve.
Please make me an offer. I definitely want to sell.
