Stick experts - Heel/Toe -vs- Double Clutching
I just watched Popular Hot Ridding TV on TNN, and they described the following sequence for Heel & Toe going into a corner;
- On the clutch
- On the brake (left side of foot)
- Out of gear
- Off the clutch
- Rev the gas (right side of foot) to match revs with next gear
- On the Clutch
- Into gear
- off the clutch
- off the brake
- on the gas
This seems like a lot of work. Here's what I do;
- On the clutch
- On the brake (left side of foot)
- Change to new gear
- Rev the gas (right side of foot) to match revs with next gear
- off the clutch
- off the brake
- on the gas
What is the purpose of releasing the clutch? I have no problems at all using my method, it's easier and less prone to flubbing... Can anyone explain the extra steps?

someone did a thread about this, so correct me if im wrong, im trying to remember. ill make it simpler by getting rid of the heel toe part. double clutching is when say ur going from 4 to 3, or 3 to 2,etc. say im going from 4 to 3. i put the clutch down, put the shifter in neutral. put the clutch up. put the cluth down, put it in third gear then rev match then release clutch. this was used on old ferraris and what not due to them not having synchro to match the rpms when u were down shifting. we have syncro and that is the lurching feeling u get when u down shift without rev matching. the purpse is to take the wear and tear off the synchro and to get a better take off when ur coming around a turn. ull notice how much smoother it will take off when u have use the double clutch way. i dont always double clutch unless im cruising and have time cuz im not that fast at it yet, but there is a much noticeable difference in how smooth it engages when u do double clutch. its def not necessary becuz of how modern cars are, but it is noticeable and u should try it sometime. hope i made sense.
