Red-Tipped Wipers

I was walking through a parking lot today and saw a black 3rd gen with tite black wipers with bright red tips. Looked fantastic--not too flashy but hot as hell on a black max. If anyone is looking for a tiny mod that most people don't have, find some similar wipers. I don't know a thing about them. I'm assuming it's just a brand of wipers and not a cap or something. Maybe someone knows about them or has them on their Max?

HAHAHA. They are winter blades, not some high performance aftermarket windshield wiper. They look different because the structure of them is wrapped in rubber so they don't get iced up in bad winter conditions. There's nothing cool about them, they work great in the winter but once you get above 70mph or so they catch the wind like a sail and don't stay on the glass surface and therefor don't work well.

Hmm, wonder why they were on a car in May then ???

They looked cool as ****, I wonder if they make normal wipers with red. In any case, it'd be an easy mod.

While we are on this subject >>

I dunno if anyone else has had this problem...

At any speed, the wipers skip across the windshield, not only improperly sweeping water away but causing that annoying scrapping noise. I know that I did purchase the right sizes, but it seemed to me that the friction between the rubber blades and the windshield was too high.

Instead of buying shorter blades, a quick fix (and cheaper too) is to try trimming the edges down a bit. Cut the rubber at a 45 degree angle, like a chamfer, which effectively shortens the blade. You won't notice the decreased sweep if you trim just .25" off each side. Worked for me.

My first car, a 1985 jetta, had these cool plastic wind foils on each wiper for downforce...kind of like "wiper spoilers" Has anyone else seen these?

My friend showed up to the races last week with a huge black eye and saying he wrecked his car 2 days earlier. Apparently his silicone wiper blades smeared the color all across his windshield, blinded him, and totalled his car. Makes you really want to run out and buy a pair

Most Japanese cars don't come with these as OE. My GF's Golf has one only on the driver's side wiper arm.

Perhaps the formulation of certain washer fluids causes the silicone material to dissolve. Be careful.
