Cimate Control Curiousity

Your ever notice that the auto climate control in Ford products are very similar to ours?? I remember riding in a Crown Vic taxi once, and I just kept staring at the climater control, wondering why. Then, I recently saw a picture of a Lincoln LS with that climate control and then I realized that seems to be from the same company that makes ours. The buttons have the same icons and so does the LED display. We have AMB for the oustide temp, whereas Ford prefers the word EXT (external).

It also looks like only one company on the planet makes moonroofs for every carmaker. The Moonroof in my mother's mercedes E420 was very very similar to mine. Buttons and all.

Just some thoughts to share,

DW

Nope - The system works perfect.

On another note, do you think Nissan actually makes the wheels, gauges, struts, bearings, windows, paint ect...... for our cars?

Hint - It's called sub-contracting.

Could this be from a 97? I've heard some un-reliability stories about that auto climate control.

The 98s and later have a better one

I understand the sub-contracting. Nissan probably only makes the engine and the body. What I was remarking on was how global that sub-contracting has become.

Seems that way. The 98+ auto climate control is quite a bit more sophisticated than the front panel the you see when you look at the 2 of them. The 98 + connects inside the dash thru 2 jacks. Those 2 jacks have around 30 or so wires coming from it. The 97 auto climate control has about 13 wires total.
