so I get in the car to go to lunch, moveing at around maybe 10mph in the praking lot, and a big *** BEE or a Wasp comes in through the window and I'm like trying to dodge that damn thing B4 it stings me and BAMMMMMM  the car bounces off the curb, I press the break and the pedal goes to the ground, I'm like Damn Something broke for sure. some smoke comeing out of the front and the car ain't stoppin??? finally it comes to a rest, I go out and look and Damn my heart just fell on the ground... But O well Its happined now, had the car towed to the dealer and they'll have insurance come look at it tomorrow. So far looks like the front rim/tire, rear rim, Tie rod end, Lower control arm and strut are busted, a little scratch on the front bumper but other then that no body damage.

CKNY Nov 29, 2000 08:22 PM

Wow that's terrible bro, I'm sooo sorry to hear that. Damage doesn't look TOO terrible, at least there wasn't too much body damage. I'm sorry again. =( Good luck with it!

Chris

mAdD MAX Nov 29, 2000 08:28 PM

sorry bro..the same thing happened to me once except the wheel was bent totally in towards the car.

it cost a lot of fix..(around $2500CDN)!!

Hope its much less for you!

Confused Nov 29, 2000 08:33 PM

OUCH!! I feel for ya..

Insurance will make her brand new again.

TimW Nov 29, 2000 08:38 PM

bees suck...

sorry to see that! hope everything else is still straight

1MAX2NV Nov 29, 2000 09:04 PM

Looks like the front chin got scrap a little->

There are some marks on the wheel well too. I never seen a rim brake off like that. They usually just bent. Don't worry. The insurance will take care of it.

PIONEER Nov 29, 2000 09:13 PM

I promise I didn't do it on purpose. I know I was still in 1st gear b/c I was trying to push that damn bee out of the car so I was using my right hand with my left on the steering wheel. I think the rim broke b/c the Lip hit the curb and just got stuck in it and had no give. but Damn I've never seen em break like that B4 either. Just let State Farm and Nissan Rip each other off, I just want my car fixed, but its not as bad as it seems. the bottom is scraped a bit but not too bad. No other body damage. what U see on the fender is sust from when it hit the curb and the air blew out of the tire.

SkyMax Jr. Nov 29, 2000 09:19 PM

damn bees. hey, it couldve been a lot worse though. at least u have it insured.

Chebosto Nov 29, 2000 09:25 PM

CandiMan Nov 29, 2000 09:28 PM

You wont be doing any drifting like your sig pic for a while.

PIONEER Nov 29, 2000 10:04 PM

his were used. don't know how this affected

Used what? the rims? I got em brandnew from tirerack.

max95q Nov 29, 2000 10:43 PM

sorry about the ride

are you sure rims are suposed to crumble like that i thought they only bend not completely shatter. Sorry about the ride hope things turn out just fine! :)

Dany Nov 29, 2000 11:16 PM

Ouch. I can't look at that.

You see, if I sold u mine Borbets in the summer, now I would be looking at my killed rim. ;)

Damnnn. Sorry man. Hope everything works out for you.

Car looks very nice from the side. H&Rs look great.

Good luck.

TexMaximum Nov 29, 2000 11:50 PM

The wheels look like they were made out of fiber glass! I've never seen a rim brake off a car like that!!

Rookwood Nov 30, 2000 02:40 AM

Wow! Sorry to see this :(

Hey, what really bothers me is how the Borbet failed. I would've expected it to crack, but it looks like the spoke section has separated from the rim... That really sucks, especially if you going faster and hit a really deep pothole.

UMD_MaxSE Nov 30, 2000 04:57 AM

Sorry to hear about your car :( . That really sucks.

Albertt Nov 30, 2000 05:26 AM

Are yo sure you didn't run over a landmine? >>

That kind of damage is pretty severe. I'm sure you were not going a mere 10 mph.

Maximizd Nov 30, 2000 06:08 AM

That is a sorry picture for sure!

Sorry to hear about this, man that really bites! It could have been worse, but that is of little comfort to you right now. Those rims look like they were made out of paper-maché or something, that is a very bizzare photo. What is the ETA on the repairs? Hang in there.

Lordrandall Nov 30, 2000 09:37 AM

Dang man, sorry to see.

:(

SINYMaxSE Nov 30, 2000 09:52 AM

dude...

1----i feel your pain
2----i hope you nailed the little sumnabit*h

justinmc Nov 30, 2000 10:03 AM

ouch I know that had to hurt

I'm with ya on the bees/wasps though.. I hate em.. next time just stop so you don't hit a curb :).. those borbets just popped right apart didn't they?? damn.. at least no body damage is evident.. hows your ins. co. going to handle the rims?.. since they aren't OEM..

MaxRX7 Nov 30, 2000 11:12 AM

What hurts more, a bee sting or a hurt car?

Do NOT show your dealer your sig.

thanjp Nov 30, 2000 12:33 PM

I HATE--LOATHE--insects....

everytime one of them flies/crawls/jumps/etc. into my car, I pull over and KILL it, just so that something like this doesn't happen.

EuroMaxima99SE Nov 30, 2000 12:56 PM

Sorry to hear this..

Just hope you didn't bend the frame. Other then then, no big deal, could of been worse. Next time I'll know better not to go with Borbets

Dany Nov 30, 2000 02:07 PM

Well, I had the exact same Borbet Type Es --->

on my 95 SE. PIONEER almost bought them from me. ;) But he decided to get new ones.
I drove my Borbets for over a year here in Boston, and I hit number of huge road holes, bumps, you name it. Rims looked like new. Never looked bent.
Borbet Type E is a very strong rim.
Any rims would get damaged if it was hit with enough impact.
And I even though PIONEER was going slow, he did hit it under bad angle and drove into the curb.

do that. That's very weird...Hope there is no
frame damage. good luck.

Chris91SE Nov 30, 2000 03:56 PM

 sorry to see that...good luck with getting it fixed....

Killermove Nov 30, 2000 04:02 PM

Wow...I feel your pain -- I did it 3 weeks ago...

But at least I wasn't swatting at a bee! ;)

It had just started raining and I was making a right hand turn (more turn than curve, but not 90 deg) and right as I was finishing up the turn the car broke lose and slide towards the curb. My front right rim sorta riccocheted(sp?) off the curb. It wasn't as bad as yours -- my tie rid was fine, and rim is only scratched a little.

Here are my pics: http://www.fobart.net/ryan/car/oops/

Sorry to here about it though! Be careful out there!

I30CeFiRo Nov 30, 2000 07:01 PM

Re: Ouch. I can't look at that.

Man! that hurts. hope you are able to fix it, good luck man!

Hrdayz Nov 30, 2000 07:57 PM

Damn thats painful to look at

but look at it this way other than the damage to the ride which looks repairable no damage to yourself or anyone else.

whitemax99gle Nov 30, 2000 09:16 PM

I'm so sorry about your accident. Hopefully you can get it fixed asap. What kind of digital camera did you use? The resolution was really sharp.

JeremiahMaximaSE Nov 30, 2000 09:24 PM

Quick Update On Car Repairs

Thanks for all the replies guys, didn't know so many people would actually read the thread..
The Cost of Repairs is about $2150..
The parts that are ordered
Lower Control Arm
Spindle
Hub
Bearing
Strut
Tie Rod
Sway bar
Front/Rear Rim
1 Tire
Labor

Talked with the dealer this morning and they said the car should be done by friday depending on how long tirerack takes to ship the rims.

The Insurance company was kind enough to get me in a Caddy Seville to take some of my pains away. Nice car, All U can have in a car pritty much, Nice power. The only thing is people look at me and think what the Heck is this kid doing in a big *** caddy. For those of U who have seen me I'm a little skinny punk so Big car and Me well its a odd match, but I'm looking forward to my Max.. Pic of the caddy.
