I found this info at http://www.midnightmotorsports.net/

All year Maxima headers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Maxima headers you see listed on the Midnight Motorsports site, are made by Obx and are stainless steel. They have TIG and MIG welds. Hardware is included. Its only the two headers to replace the manifolds. Obx also dyno tests all their performance parts to make sure they work. So you know you will get some HP from them. And yes, they are a direct bolt-on.

I'm going to bring my B-pipe to a welding shop and have them weld a bit and then tap the 2 holes for the o2 sensors. There is a place place right down the road so it will be easy to do Then I will extend my wiring to reach all the way back to the B-pipe.

are you just gonna cut and extend regular wire in or make a setuop with harnesses that just click right in.

BTW

I was planning cutting and extending the wire but I would much rather be able to plug it in. Any advise on how I could do it using plugs?

I read your post and thats crazy! I'm happy you got it working but cattman has been having way to many problems over there lately. I really hope he can get his act together because he's a great guy with good stuff.

The rears stop turning at a certain point but teh fronts just keep turning. When you come by we can mess around with it and see if we can figure something out.

About connected the wires, can you give me any info how to do a plug in setup?

1. we'll have to locate harnesses from the car side and teh 02 side, plug the wires into the terminals, get lengths and go from there. and i'll call you tomorrow, i should have that part and ready to go. i also have a great chance of getting that loan for the catbacks so i need that, you think it will fit in my car?? i hope.

Cool I will PM you my new # tomarrow (I forgot it), we changed #'s because I kept getting stinken faxes. The exhaust will fit in your car if you fold the seats down.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the 02 manifolds to blame just like the 95-01' y-pipes are to blame for restriction? That's what I thought I had read a while back.

So these headers would do for 02 whats y-pipes do for 95-01's in terms of power gains ya think?

I emailed midnight motorsports earlier today and I have not received a reply yet, I hope they answer my questions tomarrow. I also went to nissan today and had the manifold gaskets #'s checked and the 2K1's part # and it is different then the 2002's. So now I don't know what to do. I think I am going to order a 2001 gasket and see if I can get it to fit on my 2002 and I also want to see whats different about it. This will take about a week to figure out, if I can get a 2001 gasket to fit I will order the headers and a stillen Y-pipe

If anyone has any thoughts on the different gasket part #'s please share, I don't know how much this will mess things up.

Just use hi temp silcone. Thats what I've used in the past.....

I wouldn't get too excited, the headers in the pics are for any FWD car. Looks too much like a 300ZX (RWD, 3 cylinder per side)....Its not for a Maxima. No way.

get one of each and check the bolts holes on them and the ports and see how they match up, maybe they are close and will work and then like don said use silicone or somethign for the gasket.

thanks for saving me the effort of checking, now to see if it shows gains worth all this trouble of switchikng manifolds and getting a y-pipe, cost is prolly gonna be like 600+, hope it shows 15hp.

I just received a relpy back about these headers.

We do not have a picture right now. They just started making them and
we do not have them in stock but I am sure obx has plenty made and
stocked and we can have them send the headers straight to your home. The
diameter is increase but I am not sure by how much and it comes with
everything you need to bolt it right on.

So, where are obx's dynos?

What year were they done on?

It may be the old "you get 15 hp" only to find out that they got that figure with a y pipe.

the main difference was the ypipe i thought. When using the NZ headers, they took the spot of the ypipe as well, and the dyno showed only a 1hp gain over the ypipe alone... i thought these headers were supposed to be 'shorty' headers that fit with an aftermarket ypipe... if that is true, then we can see if this design also only gives 1hp over the ypipe alone...

I agree!! plus OBX isn't know to be on the "cutting" edge of performance part development either(more so basic parts likes muffler and intakes), plus no concrete pics and dynos and that email make it more fishy!

I will probably be ordering them anyways in a few ays. i ordewred he front bank gaskets from a 2002 and a 2001 today, I am going to inspect tehm and see what exactly is different. If they match up pretty good(which they should) I will order the headers.

On other news I removed my heat sheild today and I got a good look at the oem headers on my car, they look exactly like the ones on my 95. For the heck of it I loosened a bolt and it turned very easaly so removing my headers is going to be very easy to do. I can't wait to get the ball rolling on these BTW guys my dynoes will be pretty wortless to pre 2K2 owners becuase I am going to add a stillen Y-pipe at the same time with these.

I noticed a lot of you guys seem to think that stuff OBX makes is junky, would you care to explain what makes you think this? There mufflers look to be of high quality and I have never seen anyone ever complain about any of there products.

Saw a couple of posts about getting a y-pipe to go with these alleged new headers. Will any y-pipe work stillen and cattman? Thought I read a post about somebody getting a stilleny-pipe. I did already ave the flex problem with my Cattman Y-pipe... I just cut out the old flexsection and had another one custom done by a muffler shop! Wats the story with the y-pipes and the headers?

I dont know a whole lot about obx but I do know that the mufflers are sold with a lifetime guarantee. I dont think all companies offer this, so who knows maybe obx is starting to get tings going as far as quality and products.

not junk, its just that they are more known for "basic and generic" mods(intakes, exhaust)....I just get a weird feeling when out of the wood works they come up with a mod that no company regularly involved with Maximas has never developed, ah well the results will tell the story!!
