A friend of mine with a late 90's Altima (auto) has told me the following:

-His car weighs 2,300 pounds.
-Headers for his car will add about 30 horsepower.

Is he lying to me? Could he beat my 89 5 speed? (both stock)

 

his car definately weighs more than 2300 lbs... a good bit more.

i can't tell you definately that he's lying about the headers but my strong guess would be *if* he has headers he sees no more than 10-12 hp.

He is full of crap, a bare bone 98 GXE altima weights 2989 lbs. You should be able to take him in a race since he is auto but it may be close.

 

i think his car is right around 3000 lbs.

My wife has a '99 Altima GLE (auto). I am looking at the original sales brochure now. Curb weight 3,012 lbs, 150 hp @5,600 rpm, 154 ft-lbs torque @4,400 rpm. Headers will not increase horsepower by 20%.
