What would an auto 4th gen run in the quarter mile with street tires, SC, Y-pipe, exhaust, AND VALVE BODY MOD? Somebody PLEASE convince me to get the SC...I hope to be faster than the 14.4 that the 5-speed SC'ed SMX in MotorTrend ran. I know the valve body mod will definitely lower my E.T. and somewhat prolong the life of my tranny...Do any SC'ed autos here have any actual timeslips? If so, what other mods did you have at that time?

Sorry, no timeslips for me....yet.

But one ride will convince you. I will be at the Autogear meet on 9/10 (see link in my sig below) and would be glad to give you a ride. Check my sig for a list of my mods.

I understand the first part of this (i.e. it took 14 sec to cross the 1/4 mile mark and when you did, you were going 100+ mph) but how does the 60ft number factor in?

The 60 foot mark is the time when the car breaks the starting beam and crosses the 60 foot mark. The first 60 feet is very vital to your overall quarter mile time. Thats why so much emphasis is placed on the 60 foot time a.k.a. "short times". Every tenth you take off the 60 foot time equals 2 tenths in the overall time.

For example my 60 foot time was 2.4 and I went 14.09 @100.9mph. I've got a nice MPH which shows I've got the topend power. I need to get out of the hole better

Maxima in GA. got a 1.9 with a 13.3 @ 100.9 mph.

My buddies stock GTP got a 2.1 with a 14.54 (??)mph.

My buddies 67 LeMans got a 2.0 with a 13.78 @ 97 mph.

I hope to get my 60 foot time down to 2.0 with my Level 10 converter which is coming in next week. I don't expect my MPH to increase but to decrease as I will be hitting the 60 foot mark faster. I'm hoping to see a nice reduction in my E.T.

re: 60 ft time

every 0.1 sec taken off the 60 ft time translates to about 0.15 sec off the 1/4 times. 60 ft times make all the difference in the world. To be a good drag racer, you have to do 2 things well. Cut a very low R/T consistently(mine's usually a 0.54, give or take 0.01 sec for a sportsman tree) , and cut consistently low 60ft times. (unfortunately, I can't master this w/ my GSX..only 1.9 secs)

I haven't tried the Max yet, but w/ the SE-R on all seasons, I consistenly cut a 2.2 sec 60 ft time, sometimes a 2.1 sec time.

Level10 torque converter? How much did they charge you just for that? I'm thinking I would like to add that to Don's VB upgrade at some point.

You can get a protorque hi stall TC for $400 from http://www.protorque.com. They have several levels of TC's to choose from. I know for a fact that once you add a TC you should be able to cut around 2.1-2.2 60fts on street tires. That is assuming they don't turn into smoke from the boost. I love flash stalling my TC at 1700 and getting 3000rpm launches. Not to mention I can stick with V8 stangs off the line. HOwever I get walked after 1st gear .
