Pics of home painted Gun-Metal Rims!!!

Tell me what you think. I'm getting new rims soon, so I just wanted to play around. For $3.50, it is a fresh change. I also blacked out my nasty chrome door handles too.

They look good to me. My friend painted his Volk TE-37s flat black because he was tired of the ghey white.

Please tell me you did not spray paint them.

Looks good though, and the door handles as well.

Yes I did spray paint them with a can of spray paint!

The paint can chip easily if someting scratches it. Because of the clear coat on the wheel, I don't think it forms a good bond. Everytime I see a chip, i just spray the spot again. (i always carry the paint in my trunk).

The dark color hides the small size of my rims.

I hope you can strip the spray paint without stripping the clear and original paint, because those are a nice set of Fittipaldis! I was look at some a while back but opted for another...

Thanks everyone for the compliments!

yup, not bad for $3.50

I used Plasti-Kote dark grey automotive paint. I got it from Advanced Autoparts. Surprisingly, when the wheels get dirty, i just wipe it with a wet sponge and it cleans great.

The wheels are only temporary and I'm just fooling around till I get some 17s. I only wish I had body colored door handles. I used some left over black out tapes to cover up the handles.

I was thinking about doing this to my 300zx rims, because they are starting to look like crap anyways, and I can't afford new rims right now. I was thinking of the charcoal grey color...

What kind of place do I go to get my rims powder coated? I want a darker color of grey, not black or Dark grey just not the usual rim grey.

Just do a search of 'powder coating' on the internet, and you should find a bunch of places. I think most charge around $60 per rim or so.

No, they were spraypainted with plain old flat black spraypaint from the hardware store. He sanded them down, then primered them, then spraypainted them. To this day I've still never ever seen a single chip on them, and he's had them that way for over a year.
