Hi,

I want to fit new speakers in the rear shelf of my daughters 1988 Nissan Maxima Sedan. Accord to the "Crutchfield" website there are two sizes of speakers (5" or 5 1/4") depending on whether it a Maxima GXE or a SE. It doesn't say anywhere on the car which of these vehicles she has. Can someone tell me how I can tell if it's the GXE or SE ?

Thanks,

Keith.

If it has a spoiler, foglights, white analog dash, and Bose speakers should be an SE.

On my car I have the SE badging stamped on the inside of my trunk on where my brake light assembly is. Try taking a look there & see if it tells you. Also I know on the 3rd gens chrome window trim is a GXE & black window trim is an SE, dual muffler tips = se, single muffler tip = gxe (am I right on this one guys ?) I don't know if this is the same for thed 2nd gens though. It should be.

You have a 2nd gen Maxima. SE's have all black window trim, a small spoiler on the trunk, 4 spoke steering wheel, front head rests that are open in the center.

GXE or SE ? - Thank you.

I would just like to thank all of you who have replied to my question. It would appear that my daughter's car is a GXE (less sporty version), NO Headrest, Spoiler etc.

Once again, thanks for the info.

Keith.

P.S. She just loves her Maxima :-)
