Got Slicks?

I just got some M&H slicks mounted, size 8.5x24.5x15. The BFG drag radials just werent cutting it. The manufactures web page is here. http://www.intercotire.com/index.htm I went with these because they have a wider choice in sizes and they have a pretty good reputation with FWD racers. I should be going to the track on June 8th to try these out!

12 SECOND MAXIMA BABY!!! , you have been the fastest in the southeastern US.

Today I was at a redlight and this sunfire with exhaust punches it from the previous red light and then I am at the light again and there he goes again I left off the clutch softly and pressed on the gas softly, and then pressed on the gas nothing but wheel spin after I was rolling. So now I have not traction at all with my stock wheels.

Mardigrasmax,

I have always wondered if it was pointless sooping up FWD cars. I mean, plenty of people here have only improved .5 w/ a $3500 supercharger becuase of traction, yet we here about people like Lisa Kubo w/ a 7 second civic!

Do slicks bridge the gap between FWD and RWD? Do you think your times would be any better if our cars were RWD? Also, how much did these babies cost you?

Thanks

Geez Craig, you never cease to amaze me. You're not seriously comparing our cars to a full race prep Civic?

sorry I guess I didn't make my intended point clear...I was amazing that any FWD car can run a 7 second 1/4th mile...that's what I was pointing out.

no, serious RWD high power cars can get 1.7s or lower 60 feet.

I don't think Lisa Kubo is in the 7's....as far as I know the only two "publicly known" FWD import door slammers even close to the 7's are the AEM Civic and Apexi Integra....I think both run mid/low 8's trapping in the mid/high 180's....every other 7 and under import out there is usually converted or already is RWD as far as I know.

I understand what your saying craigmack, yes slicks plays a major factor when your putting all this power and you have no traction, you can sit there and spin it can be .3 secs by the time you get to the end you lost .4 or more time sitting there spining. So yes these slicks should put him right in the 12's.

No problema and DA-MAX is right Kubo is not in the 7s yet, only the damn Focus is up there (7.61 seconds). Papadakis in his AEM Civic runs very good times though...

Ok, I see your point Craig. And the guys are right, Kubo is not in the 7s yet, think she's still in the 8s or 9s. Papadakis is only fwd in the 7s I think.

Bridge the gap, no, but they get me closer. Our times would be much better if we were RWD. They cost ~$150each.

I'm hoping for high 12's

Mid to low 12's you already run 13 Flat. I just hope the weather is somewhat cool and nice.

So Matt, are you going to install rim screws so that you can drop the pressure more?

No screws needed, these are tubless and recomended pressure for these on a heavy car like the Maxima is 16lbs and up. I'll start their and see how it goes. I guess I should mark the rim and tire to be sure the tires arent slipping in the rim.
