VLSD not so hot??

I'm thinking about swapping my tranny for one with a VLSD from another Nissan. I was searching the net and stumbled upon this:
http://list.miata.net/miata/1997-08/2406.html
I'm wondering how valid this is. If so, I'll just keep my tranny and look into getting the Quaife.

Yes, VLSDs wear out. No, the Quaife doesn't.

Re: VLSD not so hot??

Mine seems to work pretty good. Just don't push it, they get warm and go away if you don't cool off a bit between runs. But you should let everything cool down a bit anyway regardless. Its pretty easy to tell when it happens. Check my pic though, it is definately working there.

the VLSD isnt as good as the Quaife. i think the Nissan one is only a 70/30 split whil ethe Quaife is a 50/50 split. Ive also heard that when it heats up it gets sucky. That article talks about Miata ones tho. i HIGHLY doubt that all VLSD's go out around 20k or so.
