someone mentioned...

grab the wiper blades out of the housing
clean it
spray WD40 on it.
wipe it
put it on
should be better now...
you should get new blades....

may I ask how the wipers left permanent streaks?? I reread your post & misunderstood it the first time (I was thinking scratches for some reason). Now was it the actual wiper blade or did it come flying off & the wiper holder scraped your windshield?

Actually, it was like that when I bought it...I didn't notice it during the daytime and until I got the car detailed. Now at night I can see the streaks and they are going in same direction as the blades when the are on, I am assuming that dry blades cause these streaks. At first it looked like I could clean the windshield really good and that would help but it didn't. Sounds like that windshield polish could help...I'm debating about replacing the windshield cause it really isn't that bad, but I am a stickler about my cars cleaniness and shine, just looks bad to me, my passengers say they hardly notice...maybe I am being petty..

Zaino has a glass polish that works wonders. More than likely you can resolve your issue.
