I have seen both the one from Cattman and Stealin, but what exctally is a Y-pipe. What I mean is what's its purpose(ex. does it filter out anything like the cat. converter)? What is the difference between the one from Cattman and the stock one?

I'm confused, you have 260 post and you don't know where the FAQ is? I apologize for that, I woke up grumpy. Here is the link: https://maxima.org/maxfaqs/index.shtml

260 posts? I just checked and I saw 177.

It's OK grumpy just don't stay lumpy or plumpy. Shiet I never thought that I'll visit the FAQ, it's like reading instructions. Ok the FAQ did in fact answer my question. Now I have another one.
What if you put a straight pipe instead of the aftermarket one? I do NOT want to hear about emissions, so some of you could just save your lectures

Er... You'd have to put on two straight pipes... A Y pipe joins the exhaust from both sides of the engine into one outlet that goes out the rear. You can't replace that with anything straighter than the aftermarket Y's...

Well, when I checked this morning I saw 259, and now I see 260, so I am really confused, Oh-well you're still a Fanatic either way. BTW no longer grump, just hungry.

You might want to wait on a purchase until Dec 16

Warpspeedperformance is dyno testing there 4gen pipe then. They say it will be better than cattmans and cheaper, but we will see.

What do you mean by "put a straight pipe instead of the aftermarket one"? Straight pipe for the Y-pipe? Straight pipe for the cat?

First, I was thinking just about the cat., then I said leave the cat. alone and make the y-pipe even less restrictive. Now, I'm thinking what if I just remove both and replace it just with the pipes.

It will be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying the y-pipe and high flow cat. Plus it will be have much less resistance(robbing power). Are there any drawbacks (in performance/realiability)?
