Pssst... it's Vtec... V-tech makes phones, Vtec makes power.

Oh, and personally I would take neither. Well, maybe the Civic just to do an engine swap.

well, it depends on if you're planning to mod it or not. if i wanted a car that i could easily mod, then i would go for the civic.

I would only get the civic in the interest of having it be a track car to heavily mod out the top end.

But if I was ever to get a track car, I think I'd rather it be a torquey domestic rwd beast.

Civic? Nah...too common. You see them EVERYWHERE. I would take a Maxima if it's a 5spd. However, if you plan to go all out, I wouldn't suggest a Maxima, just not enough "stuff" out there for us. I would pick a 240SX maybe as a project car. If you have more money then maybe a 300ZXTT, SupraTT, RX7, or VR4. Some of the newer cars out there that might an interesting project car would be the WRX or RSX-S. For me, even if I could afford to buy another car right now, honestly, I think I'll have a hard time deciding on which car. So better to wait and see what kind of cars will be available later on.

what would you swap into it? you would be wasting your time and money doing a swap for only 10 more hp... that the b18c makes over the b16 that is already in the civic, you could go with b20 bottom end and a b16 head but i doubt your knowledge would enable you to do that and maintain it properly....

if i could keep my max, i would take the civic... but if i had to give up the max i would take the other max.

You don't know anything about my knowledge base to make that kind of statement. Wouldn't want to do B20VTEC... too much work, waste of my weekend. I'd simply get a B20B from earlier CRVs with factory 8.8:1 boost friendly CR and run a turbo kit on it and say 8psi on pump gas.

Plus, B20's aren't the only game in town. Simple B18A/B + turbo would be fast. Or a B18C1 from any teg... or if I had money burning holes in my pocket, a B18C5... hell, I could even do a H22 swap. No reason to make VTEC
motors when there're plenty out there already.

You say I could buy a Max that would come with relatively the same amount of power without all the work, but where would the fun be in that? Plus I just don't like Maximas. LOL...

heh, well i wouldnt see any point in spendint the extra cash for the b18a/b just for the slightly lower compression... you would be losing about 20hp and just gaining about 10 ft-lbs of torque... waste of time in my opinion... h22 swap would get some nice power but it wouldnt be the easiest swap and you might as well just do the b20 that drops right in. but i would just keep the b16 and turbo that.. and if i was really picky about compression then some je pistons, or some b18a/b rods would pretty much take care of it.

That's not the point... the point is easy power... B20B with it's 8.8:1 CR and a turbo kit is so easy... don't have to crack open the engine to get good results. That's with a Hondata... it'd be as reliable as a stock turbo'd car.

Not bad for a girl, eh?
