new Honda or 6-spd Maxima?

Seems like it's very difficult to get someone to get a new Max, regardless of how crazy cheap they are. The average joe checks residuals these days!!

I tried to talk my friend into getting one, so he checked it out. His wife hated the way it looks, she said it's ugly and the interior was kinda weird. that was a real minus, all the HP, low price, etc. couldn't recover.

So he ended up with a new CR-V instead. Paid $200 under LIST, waited 1 1/2 months, but he got it. It's pretty nice I must say--rides nicely, 0 rattles yet but it had only 23 miles. Lots of thoughtful touches I suppose only Honda would give you. Except for the salesman hitting on his wife he said the Honda experience was pretty good.

IMHO only the 350Z could approach Honda/BMW noteriety where buyers pay just about list price and wait for the car, sight unseen. Nissan drivers are too used to bullying the salespeople for $4000-$6000 off list!!

what hurts me is when people who can't drive buy volvo's for the sake of its "safe" .. when saftey is really in the palm of the driver.. not in the design of the car.. well it can't be.. but a bad driver doesn't make a volvo safe

Right, and these are the same dorks that drive 45mph in the left lane of a major highway with a 65mph limit.

Don't get me started!

3rd gear came in very handy a few times over the weekend just for this.

I'm telling my friends to get the new Accord V6 when it comes out. The Altima's days in the sun are numbered.

I totally agree, I owned 3 Volvos before the Max and my parents had 2. None of us fit the description BTW

I frankly doubt that a Volvo is any safer than a Hyundai with side air bags or an Audi or BMW or Toyota. It probably is safer than a Nissan 4th gen simply because some issues have always been "around" on the 95-99. This Volvo safety thing came about before most of us were even a gleam in our fathers' eyes. Back in the early 1970's Volvo had rear 3-point belts and disc brakes on all four, and pipe beams running through the doors. yes, that was safe in 1974. But in 2002 most cars are safe. the 1997 DOT regs kinda leveled the playing field.

No wonder people have to wait 1 month+ for a CR-V, they're all being shipped to Canada. Dang, last trip to Montréal the new style Hondas were all over the fri**** place, those and MA and NJ plates!

The 7th gen Accord V6 will have the same motor that's in the 6G Accord V6: J30A1 - 200hp/195TQ.
