I was just reading this
http://www.performanceimprovements.h...com/Helix.html
it claims

- More Horsepower
- More Torque
- Better Throttle Response
- Improved Fuel Economy

heres an article on it
http://www.performanceimprovements.h...HelixNews.html

is thing is like one of those torando/electric supercharger thing? (scam)

Hmm, if it increases gas mileage and power, how come it doesn't come stock on all cars?

I dunno. But according to the people who make these gadgets, if you install a throttle body spacer, a tornado air management system, and an electric supercharger, you'll be able to generate more hp than a Stillen supercharger at a fraction of the cost.

all i can think of is it raises the amount of volume behind the throttle body which is somewhat the same as boring out, but not in the sense of how boring out makes it wider on one side, i just mean its an increase of volume. more space that needs to be filled by air making it "rush" in a lil quicker, i just dont know if 1 inch is gonna do that, and the fact that its not even applicable for our car.

try pheno gaskets..they dont transfer heat very easily, and supposedly give good HP increases in conjunction with pheno IM spacers on 2.5L V6 probes

man, that's a tornado air in the shape of a spacer.. literally. "creates a vortex of air" you see those huge threads on the inside? that is suppose to make the air swirl as it passes it... iw ouldnt' buy it.

if I'm correct thats a phenolic spacer, the domestice guys use them all the time, I have a friend with one on his 9C1 Caprice, not sure if it really works, but its in a lot of domestic part catalogs so it must do something.

Im not sure what this mod would actually do in a max but as a machinist this would be a cool project for my 3rd gen. If I do it Ill post the results. No dyno, too expensive but Ill check the gas mileage claims. Ill talk to the other gearheads in the shop and see how hard it would be.

I came from Probetalk.com before here. Phenolic spacers do in fact work. They keep the air between the IM and block cooler, thus making a wee bit more power. I'm not sure exactly on the gains but it is noticeable.

Read this post on Probetalk.com for somewhat of a testimonial.

I had a 1st gen GT so I wasn't able to use a phenolic spacer...but if some were made for my Max I would be in.

I remember someone on here, I think it was Mardisgrasmax, was able to attach the 3.5L pathfinder TB onto the 3.0 4th gen motor. I dont remember the results but they were good..

The description from this site... explains:
Phenolic Spacers
Cool air makes the most power. Steeda's phenolic spacer insulates your intake and throttle, reducing the rate of heat transfer from the lower to the upper intake, for cooler air and more horsepower.
I think I may have a speed shop around here make one for me just to see. And also get dyno'd before & after. Wouldn't hurt to try.

I have a buddy with a 2001 frontier and he has the spacer. I tried it on my max(fit perfectly) but it really didn't do much except make a whistle much like the popcharger only louder.

If anyone is interested my buddy might be selling his, but like I said I noticed no difference at all.

You know, I've often wondered about a throttle body spacer for the Max. All the truck guys swear by them. Hubby has one in his suburban. It's more of a hp thing than gas mileage.

Sorry...I hadn't read the title of the thread. What I am looking for is an intake manifold spacer. Made out of G-10 Phenolic material. Not a throttle body spacer.

I'm going to start calling around to some machinists in town to see if I can get one made...I'm also going to get a dyno before and after to see if my $$ was worth it. It may open up a whole new mod for everyone.

I'll keep everyone posted.
