How much does 1 gal. of Gas weight?

I was wondering how much one gallon of gasoline weighs? If I remember correctly it was something like 7 lbs. Just wondering so I can figure out how much weight is in my gas tank at certain times.

Being a huge NASCAR fan I believe their gas cans gold 11 gallons of gas at a weight of 75 pounds so that what 6.8 lbs?? almost 7 so your right.

Different fuels weigh different amounts, but gasoline is about 6.6lbs per gallon. Water is 8lbs/gal.

for avaition weight and balance we use 6 pounds per gallon...granted this is 100 octane low lead not lead-free 93 octane.

1 gallon of gasoline equals 5.8 to 6.5 lbs.

Straight from the FAQ of Team Conseco website (http://www.conseco.com/csp/team_cons...r_team_car.htm):

"Q: What kind of gasoline do the cars use?

A: NASCAR Winston Cup and NASCAR Busch Series both use only one kind of fuel, 76 Gasoline. Each car holds 22 gallons of 110 octane racing fuel."

I think you're thinking of drag racing...

I think what 2D means is anyone who is into NASCAR calls it FUEL, not GAS.
