i usually clean the whole car once a week or once every 2 weeks...about once every 2 months when im doing my weekly cleanings ill go crazy and hit every spot (yes including the exhaust tips)
I usually go ape shiat about once a month, on the outside. The inside I detail every single time. For me I see the inside more than the outside so it means more. BTW my car is 11 months old, 31k miles on her, and still smells like leather of the lot...

Sorry, hate to sound like a newbie but I'm not sure. I was looking at my exhaust tip today after washing and it looked like gunk was stuck in between...
i took quick detailer to it first
got all the surface grim off there
then took some simichrome™ metal polish. the stuff i use on slot car gears. polished it up, and then got some steel wool. and some a-z wheel cleaner, hosed it down, and scrubbed the **** out of it. looks brand new!
spent about a total of 30 - 45 mins on this thing.

Clean the exhaust tip with a terry towel and the regular car soap first. If you need to clean "gunk" out from between the finisher and pipe, use an old toothbrush. Then feel free to use one of the many products out there to shine up the finisher as you like.

j/k!Thanks for the info. I didn't want to try something that I was unaware of on my Max, and that gunk is lookin kinda nasty now, so it's about time I took care of that.
Don't worry, I'll keep the hose outta the exhaust
