I went with 245/40 18 it fills up the wheel well very nicely!!!235/40 is better then 225, hopefully your getting a 18x8 wheel.

That's probably the right size for a 2k2 since it comes with what 225/50-17 which is a very tall tire. But it's not the right size for a 4th gen. Dropping the car would be the way to fill the wheel wells, not going to a taller tire.

For the best all-around it'd have to be the Pilot Sport A/S in a 235/40-YR18. for budgetary pupposes I've had excellent results with the Sumitomo HTR. I don't like Kumho though they're advertising like crazy during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Just don't like them.

Sumitomo makes a good tire Im runnin stock size on my 91SE for local stock spec "autocross" type racing they stick to the road like a booger and the htr200's are cheap.Im not sure about 18's but if theyre good at stock size bigger is always better. My .02

Your correct getting larger overall wheel diameter is not the way to fill up the wheel well. But I had no choice, 235/40 in my opinion is far too small of a sidewall, also I live here in new orleans so I also needed some cushion. With the 235 tires I also racked up more miles on my car after removing the stock wheels. How do I know I use to visit my parents in Miami, the odometer reading was different with the 235 tires showing me that I added a couple of more miles on my car then with my stock rims. I was not happy with the fenderwell gap so I took my chances and ordered 245/40 18. To me perfect fit look at the beautiful sig picture. 235/40's on the 5th gens is too small but then again when you 5th gen guys lower your car it lowers perfectly. But I was not aware that the guy who started this thread had a 3rd gen Maxima. So 225 should be more then good enough. So I apologize for bum scoop.
